    James Proudstar, known as Warpath, is a mutant of Apache descent who has been affiliated with many X-Teams over the years starting with the Hellions.

    Warpath was created in 1984 by Chris Claremont and Sal Buscema, first appearing on New Mutants #16 as a member of the Hellions. Warpath was the brother to Thunderbird, who died in a early issue of X-Men, which caused him to hold resentment towards them. Warpath has been a member of many teams throughout the years.     Warpath makes his debut as a member of Emma Frost's Hellions in these issues and is originally a adversary of the New Mutants. Written by Chris Claremont with art by Sal Buscema.

    Fighting the X-Men

    The Uncanny X-Men #193 - Warhunt 2

    Still wanting revenge on the X-Men for the death of his brother Thunderbird, Warpath devises a plan to eliminate the X-Men. Here you will see Warpath do battle with many of the X-Men in hopes of defeating them. Written by Chris Claremont with art by John Romita Jr.

    Joining X-Force

    The New Mutants #98 - The Beginning Of The End Part One, The New Mutants #99 - The Beginning Of The End Part Two, and The New Mutants #100 - The End Of The Beginning.

    When Cable joins the New Mutants, and the group falls apart on him after the events of X-Tincton Agenda, he needs to recruit more mutants. Warpath is approached by Cable, and asked if he wants to join X-Force.X-Force originally formed in the last three issues of New Mutants volume one. Here you will see the mysterious mutant, Cable, rally the remaining forces of the New Mutants to form a new team, as well as the debuts of new X-Force members Domino, Feral, and Shatterstar.     Warpath sticks with the team throughout the entirety of the original X-Force run. Here you will see Warpath start to form a relationship with Siryn, and take part in the most iconic X-Men crossovers of the 1990's.

    Warpath is recruited by Professor Charles Xavier to join his X-Men to travel into Shi'ar space. This story is a sequel to Deadly Genesis, so that should be read before reading this. Here you will see Warpath meet new friends and form new relationships.

    Messiah Complex

    Warpath is featured in this story, but it is not directly a story about him. However, it is a prelude to X-Force, and should be read in order to fully understand that run, and where the team came from.

    This story is a crossover where the X-Men teams up with New X-Men and X-Factor.

    For the first time since House of M, a new mutant infant will be born. When this happens, the X-Men, as well as the forces of Mister Sinister, will go after it. The X-Men will be fighting for the survival of the mutant race, as they are betrayed by one of their own while fighting to save the infant. The X-Men will cover all angles, and even travel through time in hopes of finding the baby. Written by Ed Brubaker, Peter David, Mike Carrey, Greg Kyle, and Christopher Yost with art by Anthony Castrillo, Bill Sienkiewicz, Brandon Peterson, Bret Blevins, Brett Booth, Carlos Pacheco, and Chris Bachalo.

    X-Force

    X-Force

    In this reboot to X-Force, Warpath will volunteer to be a member of this incarnation of the team. This directly follows the events of Messiah Complex, and will see Wolverine, X-23, Warpath, Domino, Arcangel, and Wolfsbane on the team. You will see some crucial character development with Warpath in this series, as he becomes effected by the sheer amount of violence that they have to endore. He will also meet his brother Thunderbird again in this series, and go on a personal adventure. Wolverine will also recive some character development in this series, as his relationship with Warpath and X-23 grows. Wolfsbane will also meet her former love in this run.

    In this series you will see many former X-Men Antagonists make their return and join forces to battle this team. X-Force will face some of its biggest challenges of his career here, and you will see Wolverine facing a new challenge; the challenge of leading a team. Written by Greg Kyle and Christopher Yost with art by Clayton Crain and Mike Choi.

    Messiah War

    This is a follow up to Messiah Complex, and is a crossover between X-Force and the Cable solo series. Here you will meet the infant once again, as Wolverine, X-23, Arcangel, Warpath, and Domino are sent to the future to meet with Cable. They will battle Cable's arch nemesis, Strife, as well as come face to face with Apocalypse and the X-Man that betrayed them. Written by Greg Kyle, Christopher Yost, andDuane Swierczynski with art by Clayton Crain, Ariel Olivetti, Mike Choi, andSonia O'Back.

    Necrosha

    In this story arc, Selene will have one of her allies raise the dead of the X-Men's former enemies and allies, with Warpath's brother Thunderbird among them. Warpath will finally get to confront his brother aging in this story-arc.
