Kid Gladiator's most trusted bodyguard. She was sent to protect him during his stay at the Jean Grey school for Higher Learning. She was given this task in order to increase her hatred of children for use in future missions.
it's not that she has some "color" as you put it, but in combination with white hair/feathers...it's the signature Storm look. They could've made the hair/feathers any other other color....but especially on that cover it feels like they intended for her to look like Storm.

yes...yes...
Extended arms is the signature storm look? And color is how any human being would put it.
Feels like they intended to put a new character on a cover.
@Kallarkz: whatever. it doesn't bother me that she has a dark complexion, it bothers me that she looks like Storm. Tell me you don't see it. Even the costume has similar elements.

That was the first Warbird pic I saw and I admit at first I thought she was Storm. Then I clicked on the pic and found out who she was.
No, because the possibility hadn't even occurred to me.
This.
Now Storm can be the only active member of the X-men that has some color?
*sigh*
actually, I haven't picked up an X-book in a while and upon seeing the Astonishing cover for the first time I actually did think it was Storm, so, the observation isn't that insensate.

Oh, I had that comment more directed to Kallarkz ,

I think it was just the whole he needed someone to watch him he did destroy a whole city or world or something didnt he? maybe she used to me an adviser of gladiator's, maybe she is supposed to be the same age as papa gladiator, then yeah she could be on wolverine's adult team....but where is Husk?

I wonder who his mother is since I take it he's only half Strontian as he's not purple. Husk was teaching one of the classes in the first issue
@Vance Astro: Warbird isn't Storm, they're completely different people
At first glance she did look like Storm a little since you don't see a lot of dark skinned people with white hair like Storm's. But once you look closer you can see they look different but I guess it depends on how the artist draws her.
I'm more wondering if shes deathbirds younger sister or clone @spiderbat87 said:

I know shes his bodyguard but when did they state her age?
its hard to tell any shi'ars age but her age as never been said but why would they make a younger person a body guard ? as i doubt she'd be mature enough to handle that role if she was younger then Kid Gladiator but as i said before its hard to tell their age as she could be 50 to 100 plus years old but look 20 years old as its up to marvel if they want to say her age .

Well thay made Rose Superboys minder/bodyguard and she's only a teenager
When the Astonishing X-Men cover was revealed I thought: "Great! Another version of Storm!". So yes I did think it was Storm since Mohawk Storm had surfaced I thought this was another version. The thing about it is the feathers... Unless you pay really close attention they don't seem like feathers but rather like hair.
Of course, after that little incident I could tell them apart. I don't think they look alike now.

I think it's a little over the top for some people to call others racists for confusing Warbird for Storm is a little extreme. Storm's skin color has varied over the years in her various incarnations so it would not be a stretch to find Warbird's skin color similar. And don't some of you have to admit that one of Storm's trademark traits is her white hair? Last time I checked that was not a widespread combination of hair and skin color. Storm was designed with white hair so that she would stand out in a way. Also, most Shi'ar characters I know about have black feathers in place of hair, not white feathers (let alone that long of a "feathercut"). For this reason, it's not totally inconceivable for someone to make a confusion between the two characters at first glance. I can now recognize the difference since I took the time to look into the character of Warbird and now can notice the feathers for hair difference. There is no problem having more characters of color, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of Warbird's look was inspired by Storm. I'm sure Warbird would be the same quality character with typical Shi'ar black feathers or any other color feathers to differentiate her more easily at first glance from Storm. Thunderscream, I don't think you are crazy for this observation at all.

She's only had a few appearances so lets wait till this revamped Astonishing title starts (which is being brilliantly written by Marjorie Liu I might add) which will probably delve more into her character and background and loyalty!! Maybe she leaves because she fell in love with Iceman or maybe she's actually bi and will start a relationship with Karma... whatever it is we'll just have to wait till we get more info about her!! Tell u the truth... this new revamped series couldn't have come at a better time, because I'm stoked for this series!! And I haven't felt that way since Joss Whedon's tenure!!
