The first issue of the Aftermath was a slight let down but this issue reveals what happens to many of the characters and has possible ties to September's relaunch titles.
The Good
At first I wasn't sure if we actually needed these Aftermath issues. I wondered why these ties weren't resolved in the actual arc. With some of the questions left, the first part of this two issue miniseries didn't feel as if it would cover everything. That isn't the case as we find out what happens when a rogue group of Lanterns set out to kill Sinestro as well as the fate of other Lanterns and other remaining storylines that were set up in past Green Lantern issues.
I had great excitement over the possibilities of what next month's new #1 will bring us but I have to admit a few scenes here managed to get me even more excited. This was a fitting end to a great story arc and makes up for those couple filler issues we had in some of the main series.
The Bad
Not everyone's fate is revealed. Because this is the aftermath, you would think everything would be tied up and answered. Some character's are mentioned but we see very little, if any, of them. Relationships for some have been strained and there doesn't seem to be any sign of resolving them. Let's hope that the new #1s will pick up where this left off without revamping what has gone on.
The Verdict
The war is over but it's not quite time to celebrate. The first issue let me down a little but this one got me even more excited for the September Green Lantern books than I was before. We see what is needed to be done in order to pick up the pieces after Krona's attack. Even though there are still a couple more Lantern books before the relaunch, this issue feels like it would be the perfect ending of this current chapter. We don't get all the answers we might want. Hopefully that means that these books will seamlessly flow into the new books and we'll find out more in September.
