Slap a fresh clip into your piece and shoot the wings off some flies… it seems WANTED 2 will happen after all.

     Foxy... Foxy Lady...
     Foxy... Foxy Lady...

Mark Millar talked to IGN UK recently while promoting the release of the KICK-ASS collector’s edition and described the sequel as being an inevitability now, given how much money WANTED scored in 2008.  Getting all the stars to align, so to speak, is the issue.  It's apparently just a matter of coordinating the busy schedules of director Timur Bekmambetov and Angelina Jolie, as well as getting a script together that everybody can get behind.   The bar's been set so high by the first flick, according to Millar, that nobody involved wants to just half-ass it and walk away with a paycheck.

     Wanted too?
     Wanted too?

The Scottish writer also spoke highly of Bekmambetov’s vision for the first film, and added that he and JG Jones totally understood why significant changes were made to the plot.   By the studio’s reckoning, having a world dominated by a secret society of supervillains (and all the resultant in-jokes) worked in the comics, but such elements wouldn’t be understood by the kind of mass audience they wanted to reach.   Seems like they might've been on to something, as this run 'n gun actioner amassed close to $350 million worldwide when all was said and done.

Click on the link above and you can hear all this, plus some more tidbits, from Millar himself - - in a crazy Scottish accent that's thick enough to cut with a knife.

Now, I can't resist asking you, the Comic Vine community.  What have you wanted to see in a sequel?

The first movie was okay. It wasn't bad. It had some cool parts in it.

    I loved Angelina in Wanted,
but for gods sake, keep the character dead. ¬¬
Bringing her back will just open unecessary plot holes.

I'd rather them introduce a fresh, younger character to the scene, even more kick-ass than Angelina was.

the movie had nothing on the comic.  it was entertaing but the book was just great.  loved the whole idea of the multiverse Lex and Joker splitting up the world like the mob.  to bad they didn't do it that way.

read it, it's great.  Look for all the Superman and Batman villians with cheesy names.  Plus its a trip to see the Marvel villiians drawn in differant colors.

Maybe I need to re-watch the film, but I just read the series for the first time and I feel like the movie had hardly anything to do with it.  Except for a few little things it's like they changed the whole story and characters.  Am I remembering wrong or did Hollywood totally mangle this film?  And why didn't Halle Berry play Fox?  She looks EXACTLY like her.  I like me some Angelina but come on!!!

In all seriousness. I only saw this first one because of Angelina Jolie. It was an 'alright' film, but if it wasn't for her. I would of skipped it all together. The idea of a bending a bullet irritates every science loving fiber in my being. Only thing that numbed it was those lips and eyes.....including other such appendages.

Without Angelina Jolie, this sequel is unwanted by me.

I did like the specials this movie inspired for Mythbusters.

The comics sucked ballz. And they aren't going to adapt the comics fully anyway, just the highlights.

I really wanted the graphic novel version or at least for the sequel maybe. It was good but I also want to see the original idea from the book as well.

The first film was truly awful. Sure it looked ok but the story was terrible. A loom? Weavers? BINARY? The main character was very well acted and the production values were solid enough. But really it was an awful idea in the first place.  I'm surprised by the comment "  The bar's been set so high by the first flick, according to Millar". Sure, a sequel isn't a huge surprise but really? You thought is was a high point in film? This is not going to be a good sequel.....

    I won't be seeing this.

i will never watch the wanted movie or its sequel. i researched it after reading the comic, i know the differences between the two and as i read the comic i kept thinking about the trailers for the film and wondered how a movie that seemed to have nothing to do with super villains could be based on a comic thats bathed, no drenched in superhero comic lore. and about the angelina jolie thing, not that i would have wanted, pun intended, her in the film in the first place, imo she's unattractive, lacks talent, and looks like an old dirty whore, but ya know had they followed the excellent premise of the comic,  a sequel starring angelina would have worked just fine cause SPOILER ALERT:
