It looks like a self-administered curved bullet to the temple really is enough to keep Fox down.
According to New York Magazine, Universal Studios has canceled its plans for a sequel to WANTED now that star Angelina Jolie has walked away from it. The project was to be a new story continuing the movie's plot, not a further adaptation of the comic. Instead of WANTED 2, Jolie will be acting in GRAVITY for Warner Bros, a thriller about the last survivor of a space mission. The project, to be helmed by CHILDREN OF MEN director Alfonso Cuaron, would be a mostly one-man show like Tom Hanks' turn in CAST AWAY, as Jolie would spend most of her time on screen alone.
We reported a few weeks ago that talks about a sequel to Top Cow comic were still going on, according to Mark Millar. The issue, according to him, was getting the cast and crew to agree on a script that would be up to the quality level of the first movie, as nobody wanted to “just half-ass it and walk away with a paycheck.”
Fans have been puzzled about how Jolie could possible return to the movie, as her character, Fox, was killed in the climax of ’08 actioner. I didn’t see any issue myself - - they could easily pull some explanation out that she dipped in the Fraternity’s healing wax pools - - but it’s clear now that she was the real star of the movie. Without her, you're not going to see a sequel. Now, it seems that after KICK-ASS, the first Millar-based movie audiences are likely to see is the Scottish writer’s secret super hero movie.
