First of all: NO, this is not me complaining about bad writing. I like Johns' Flash run. I recently bought the entire omnibus collection, and it's damn enjoyable.
Buuuuuuut, it's not problem-free. It doesn't ruin it, but it's still there. So I will point out these five problems I have:
1; The new Rogues.
It's not that they are BAD villains, but... when I think of Flash villains, I think of a guy with a cold gun, or a magic wand that controls the weather. Or maybe something weird like a talking telepathic gorilla who want to rule the world.
NOT a guy who cut out peoples tongues, dressed like Jason Voorhees. It's not that I have anything against Murmur and the others, they just feels a little out of place next to the guy dressed like an Eskimo.
2; Revamp of the Rogue.
It feels a little unnecessary. It's like Johns fear that we wont read the book, unless the Rogues get's darker. Personally, I have no problem with the Rogues just being blue collar criminals with a strong community. They dont have to be complex and dark.
3: Identity Crisis.
During the event "Identity Crisis," Wally discover that Barry actually voted for the brainwashing of Doctor Light.
Sure, Johns cant be blamed for this. He just had to deal with it, and add it to his Flash series.
What he DIDN'T have to do, was ADDING to this! Not only did Barry support the brainwash of Light, he even made Zatanna brainwash one of his villains, the Top. And the problem isn't that it's unethical(okay, YES it is, but the idea about Identity Crisis was to make the DC heroes less perfect than usual)but that this resulted in us learning that all the Rogues who reformed, like the Trickster and Pied Piper, did it because they were brainwashed by Top! That's... just... annoying and unnecessary!
4: The stuff FBI did to Cap Boomerang's dead body.
... WHAT THE FIRETRUCK WAS THAT ALL ABOUT!?!?!?
5: Rogue War.
There is a lot of buildup for the class between the reformed and criminals Rogues. And then... it's over. Two issues, and it's done. Sure, Rogue War is a six part story-line, but how much about it is ABOUT the war between the Rogues? Heck, a third-part of it is about Barry and Wally fighting Zoom and Professor Zoom.
