First shown in Fantastic Four#52(July 66'). Wakanda is rich in vibranium because of a massive meteorite hitting it long ago. This meterorite caused many Wakandans to become "demons spirits" and attack the others. The first Black Panther Bashenga sealed the meterorite and formed the nation's religion the Panther Cult. Knowing that others will seek Wakanda and try to take it over for the vibranium T'Chaka, T'Challa's dad, cut Wakanda off from the rest of the world. T'Chaka sells bits of vibranium to the world but really is getting scholars out in the world to learn everythign they can. From this Wakanda becomes a high Tech place and very rich.
