Vision

The robot villain Ultron is the creator of the Vision, a type of android he dubs a synthezoid, to use against Ultron's own creator, Dr. Hank Pym and Pym's wife, Janet van Dyne (Wasp). The Avengers believe the Vision's body was created from that of the android original Human Torch (Jim Hammond), while the patterns of his synthetic brain were based on those of the then-deceased Wonder Man. The Avengers would later learn that the time lord Immortus harnessed the power of the Forever Crystal to split the original Human Torch into two separate entities: One body remained the original Torch while Ultron used the other to create the Vision.

Almost immediately, the Vision rebels against his creator and joins the Avengers. He later became romantically involved with the Scarlet Witch. The two eventually get married, and later appear to procreate twin children through Scarlet Witch's mutant hex powers.

Rogue US government agents, manipulated by the time traveling Immortus, abduct Vision and dismantle him. The Avengers recover the parts, and Dr. Pym rebuilds him as best as he can. However, the now-revivified Simon Williams disallows for his brain patterns to be used again to provide a matrix for Vision's emotions. Simon explains that the original process, done without his consent, had "ripped out his soul". Although Williams' own love for Wanda leads him to feel guilty, he justifies his actions by claiming Vision was never anything but a copy of him, a claim that a number of other Avengers, including the Wasp, accept. This, along with the damage to the Vision's synthetic skin when he was dismantled, results in the synthezoid's resurrection as a colorless and emotionless artificial human.

Meanwhile, the original Human Torch returns from his own demise, casting doubt onto Vision's identity. The Vision and the Scarlet Witch's children were then apparently revealed not to be their children at all, but rather fragments of the soul of the demon Mephisto, who had been broken apart by Franklin Richards shortly before the birth of the twins. The twins were then absorbed back into Mephisto, which temporarily drove Scarlet Witch to insanity. Although she recovered, she and Vision separated, each operating on a different Avengers team.

The Vision gradually regains his emotions by adopting new brain patterns from deceased scientist Alex Lipton, and also gains a new body that resembles his original. In addition, Simon Williams' brain patterns gradually reemerge and combine with Lipton's patterns, fully restoring the Vision's capacity for full emotion.

While recovering from a crippling injury, the Vision gives up his attempt to reconcile with his wife, Wanda. Remaining a member of the Avengers, he shortly becomes romantically involved with teammates Ms. Marvel and Mantis before attempting once again to reconcile with the Scarlet Witch. However, grief over the loss of the twins again drives her insane. She attempts to rewrite reality in order to recreate them, causing a series of catastrophic events that includes the Vision crashing an Avengers Quinjet into Avengers Mansion. Appearing out of the rubble, the Vision apologizes to his stunned teammates, telling them he can no longer control his body; he then melts and expels several spheres that form into five Ultrons. The Avengers destroy them, and an enraged She-Hulk rips apart the remains of Vision. The Avengers later believed that Ultron may have put a command in the Vision that would have been activated by the Avengers' Code White alert. It is still unknown whether Wanda's magic or Ultron's command was responsible.

Vision 2.0

A synthesis of two exceptional beings, the heroic young android Vision is evolving into a unique entity in his own right. His origins begin with the previous Vision, a sentient android and mainstay of the Avengers superhero team. The senior Vision eventually died in action, wrecked by his own insane ex-wife, the Scarlet Witch, and the Avengers placed his remains in storage in hopes of someday reactivating him. Meanwhile, a 16-year-old incarnation of 31st Century-born time traveler Kang the Conqueror from the alternate world Earth-6311 arrived in present-day mainstream reality, a fugitive from his own future self. Having met his time-traveling adult self and learned he was fated to become the monstrous villain Kang the Conqueror, young Nathaniel had fled into the past in the hopes that Kang’s longtime enemies, the Avengers, could help him escape his evil destiny; however, he had arrived in the present day during a period when the Avengers were disbanded. Seeking information, young Nathaniel found the Vision's remains and downloaded the android's programming, operating system and data files into a suit of neuro-kinetic armor he had obtained from Kang. These files included the "Avengers Fail-safe Program," a plan secretly developed by the late Vision to identify a new generation of potential Avengers recruits in the event of the team's destruction. Using these files, young Nathaniel recruited several Avengers-connected super-youths with whom he formed a new team as the Young Avengers, including the armored Nathaniel as Iron Lad.

Nathaniel's adult counterpart Kang eventually caught up with him, clashing with the Young Avengers, detective Jessica Jones and Avengers veterans Iron Man and Captain America to determine young Nathaniel's fate, and Kang died in the battle. Ultimately realizing that he had to fulfill his destiny as Kang or risk doing catastrophic damage to all reality, young Nathaniel returned to his native time period; however, he left behind his neuro-kinetic armor, which retained replicated impressions of Nathaniel's brain patterns, emotions and memories. Developing a physical form and powers adapted from the late Vision's programming, the armor became an independent sentient being as the new Vision, first activated during the battle with Kang. The regrouped senior Avengers tested and analyzed this new Vision for some time, reluctant to place him on active duty too soon, and the restless android eventually decided to join the Young Avengers instead. He has served capably with the team since then, though a romantic affection for teammate Stature inherited from Iron Lad has led to an unrequited crush on the Vision's part. Vision has also discovered that twin teammates Speed and Wiccan may be the long-lost children of his elder counterpart, the previous Vision.

Vision sided with the Anti-Registration and fought with them against Iron Man and his Pro-Registration team in the Civil War that pitted heroes against each other. During the final battle between the two-sides he compromised Iron Man's armor allowing Captain America the upper hand in his second bout with Tony.

After the Civil War had finished Vision traveled around to figure things out, becoming many people to find that he was one particular individual. He goes to Camp Hammond and impersonating Stark he takes Cassie away from camp grounds with the intention to make clear to her that he, now called Jonas, wasn't a what but a who, a real person who has feelings for her and to find out if she had feelings for him. After they share a kiss she states that she needs time which Jonas is willing to give.

During the Skrull invasion of Manhattan, Vision tries a long with his fellow Young Avengers to keep the people save while staving of the invading force. They are soon joined by the Initiative. The Super-Skrulls however retain the upper-hand defeating both the Young Avengers and the Initiative. They blast Vision with multiple beams till one destroys his head. He suvives the shot and he and the Young Avengers join Nick Fury against the Skrulls.

Jonas then joins the Mighty Avengers. Now being both a member of Young Avengers and Mighty Avengers.

Powers

The Vision has the ability to alter his density at will. He can become light enough to fly and phase through objects and people or become extraordinarily heavy and make his body nearly impenetrable. The crystal on his forehead called a solar cell emits different levels of radiation. One of the Vision's signature moves is to phase into someone and then increase his density, a process he describes as "physical disruption." This causes the person massive amounts of pain and can result in incapacitation. Vision is also capable of interfacing with outside technology and self-repair. However, the new Vision possesses all of these abilities, PLUS the powers of Iron Lad's neurokinetic armor, such as holographic and energy manipulation, shape shifting, and time travel.
