The trailer looks epic. To be honest, it looks like it will be better than Green Lantern based off of the trailers.

It's kind of redundant now that the film has virtually finished shooting. Marvel studios is going for the more futuristic Asgard (like 60s Kirby stuff).  The medieval Thor thing is a little more recent and actually begun during the Simonson run and was taken to whole new levels by JMS.  The preview looks good, not great but good. While the GL trailer had very good effects, the tone seemed...wrong. The tone of this Thor film seems about right. "

Where and which comic mentioned or defined Jack Kirby's creation with should-be Asgardian traits of having Oriental background?

Disappointing ...
I think, someone was in a hurry to make a Thor movie, so he made another uninspired blockbuster.

Hope the story holds on and this doesn't end up looking like a 2+ hours ad for the upcoming Avengers movie...

Looks promising, and it does not feel (to judge from this trailer) like a superhero movie. just my opinion that, mind. It has a mythic quality that makes it really stand out.

LMAO
Reynolds Green Lantern seems to have that on lock...
But I was expecting something with more depth. Something with more ambition to it, not quite Road to Perdition but certainly something more Dark Knight than Batman & Robin. This looks very by the numbers shiny, special effects driven and plot thin. I get the feel that the plot only exist to move us from one shiny set piece/flashy battle to the next. Doesn't feel like I'm seeing a Thor comic being brought to life here. I also don't see any Donald Blake which was/is a huge part of what makes Thor so compelling and  interesting. I guess their going more of the Ultimate route, that seems to be Marvel's approach with their films anyways so can't say I'm shocked, but nonetheless displeased. My friend works at the Theater so I'll see it free at a pre-screening, but It doesn't look like something I'd pay to see. And I love Idris Elba as much as the next guy, but come on. Heimdall wasn't black, nor any member of the warriors 3 Asian...they were SCANDINAVIAN deities. That would be as ridiculous as Brad Pit and Jet Li playing African deities in a Black Panther film.

OH YEAH THOR THE MIGHTY!!!
Damn I love this new Thor, they took the best things from Ultimate Thor and the best things from Thor 616, and we got this!! Damn I would love this movie.

But I would prefer to see the Doctor Donald Blake in the Movie, Maybe he could appear as he did on the Ultimate Universe.

Very clever Marvel, very clever indeed.
All it took was an unsupporting script that barely reaches anything related to Thor and Asgard, 3D, CGI effects, and a cast of actors that also play as certain Marvel characters that barely resemble any of the famous characters within the Thor comics.

I see the franchise building up some serious paychecks and fans are left SUCKERED into another crappy superhero flick that was all HYPE and no effort.

Odin looks like Santa Clause, Asgard looks too digital and futuristic, Loki looks innocent, HI NATALIE PORTMAN, Dr Blake looks buffed up (if that is Dr Blake), Obvious unconvincing acting, and it's in 3D, is enough to simply convince me that this movie will simply fall face flat.

"
there is no Dr Blake, its just thor, What you expected them to build Asgard from scratch? keep dreaming men... Odin is supposed to look like that.  Loki is crafty so obviously he knows how to look innocent when he needs to pretend he is... "
There was an 80's movie that did manage build an Asgard, a primative enviroment that convinced me that Marvel's Thor was missing. AND it is a fact that they could have builded an Asgard from scratch, or make it look like they did. Despite the fact that the filming never went anywhere beside Mexico and California, and that Asgard looks more futursitic with a bad taste for architect, it's the obvious bland of poor acting that seriously has me on verge of tears as Marvel's most badass and only has the possible ridiculous amount of FRANCHISE supporting it. "
1980 technology won't apply now, CGI is cheaper and yes asgard is supposed to look slightly furutistic, and remember the Marvel execs said in order to merge Thors world and Iron mans they said the Asgardians were a tech society (and magic of course) who were say ahead of humans which is why then they came ot earth long ago they looked like Gods. So the futuristic appeal makes sense... "
You don't read much on Thor do you? "
This what the studio executive said they were doing for the THor movie and the avengers in general!!! it has nothing to do with Thor in the comics, if anything this thor is inspired from the Ultimates...

"Hollywood needs to stop with Romance, not saying it's bad but tone it down. Why is it that most comicbook heroes in these live action movies have to revolve around the crappy romance, also I'm NOT racist but why is Balder black? Is Hollywood trying to say that Comic sorce material is racist?  I'll most likely watch this but I'm not pumped up for it alot of Marvel movies have cool ass trailers but the movie disapponts. "

Marvel characters who are played by a different race shouldn't be seen as a sign of out of place or far different, it all depends on the acting despite what race there is.
However, for Asgardians, it's understandable why it can be seen out of place. Seeing how Asgardians act like a reclusive culture with their own forms of race that is obviously different from ours. Instead of Blacks, Asians, Indians, and etc. You got Frost Giants, Elves, trolls and whatever different Asgardian like race that reside within the nine realms. So far the movie has taken itself damn near a 180 degree turn from the Thor within comics, so Im not entirely suprised if our reclusive batch of Asgardians had some relations with Earth.

Yeah I can understand Hogun because its been said before in the comics he's not from the city of Asgard and therefore not an Asgardian so I can deal with how they cast him. But I just find it very weird that they would cast a black man as a scandinavian god.

@Omega-Man :  I don't think they are going that far to say the comics are racist but I do think they are trying to make it more diverse to appeal to a larger crowd which is fine some times but it is in no way appropriate in this instance since they are nordic, it would make more sense if they kept all the Asgardians nordic and then brought the diversity to the rest of the cast. The only way non-nordics make sense in Asgard is due to the fact that vikings were pillagers and sometimes they did take female captives so it is possible for vikings to be born of mixed ancestry and I know it wasn't unheard of for vikings to take back warriors that they found while pillaging that they thought to be powerful warriors but the average person won't know that and won't think of that so it just makes everything confusing.
