"what a ..." wait.. what did she say?? :)

Posted by kitsuneconundrum

yes, the insinuation of the last two pages is pretty insane.

Posted by Lustwish

*high 5* well done!  I agree, I enjoyed it quite a bit, and the end was the icing on the cake, I can tell without you saying that you also enjoyed the last page :)

Cant wait for the next one.

It makes me wonder if the last page was a red herring or not.  I can't see that particular character filling that sort of "cosmic" role.  I can't wait to see how it all plays out though!

i've only read up to issue 7, but i like how it switches between tha different characters stories. i don't know much about alot of tha characters involved so it gives me an opportunity to see them heavily involved in somethin.

Nice work Babs.

Yea, Hawkman/Hawkwoman er, girl is pretty convoluted stuff so I can understand why it turns off some people but I think this issue streamlined the concept of those two.

Good work on the review, Babs. Your passion for the characters and the story shows. It's good to feel something for a story. It's when you stop caring is when things start looking bad.

I get the concept behind an eternal, timeless love. It sounds romantic, but I also find the idea a bit depressing. It's as if they are together, because that's just the way it is. Rather than being together by their own personal choice. I'm not trying to claim that they don't want it.

The surprise at the end was the best part!

Wow a 5 out of 5. I didnt really like this issue very much. Not due to the writing or art, I'm just having trouble caring about Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Purely personal preference. Even at the halfway point I'm still digging Brightest Day.

Nice review, short... but to the point!

cool cover....They should make a new hawkman series with lots of violence. would make him a more likeable icon.

I still like Kendra far more than Shiara. The fact that people seem to feel the need to keep resetting everything back to the way things used to be. I man, Berry Allan's back, Hal Jordan returned. Aunt may is alive for the umteenth time, Spider-Man's marriage and stories were pretty much retconned back to the 80's. Somehow it's like the characters are simply not allowed to change or progress. Anyway, I've always been a big Kendra fan and now that she's gone, I really don't like hawkgirl anymore. Still, I might pick up this issue just because I kinda dropped the series when it was jumping around and now really getting anywhere in the story plot. The comic has a feel of a whole lot of filler. But this seems like it might actually contribute to a storyline so, I'll give it a chance and swallow my hatred of Shiara.

@Mumbles:
I hear DC has a new Hawkman series in the works. James Robinson is supposed to be writing it.

Robinson does a really excellent job in humanizing relationships in comics. He has a really good eye for grounding moments in reality that make you believe the passion between characters. That's hard to do.

Seeing how he seems to enjoy teasing Babs so much in the podcasts. If this rumor is true, it should be interesting to see if he adds a little something special.

Agree and it would make Babs probably becoming a bigger fan of Hawkman.

This book has been consistently well done. It should be great when collected.

Yeah, I know how you feel there.
I really prefered Kendra too :/
I guess fans (the ones who actually buy the books) fear the differences and evolution of the formulas.
I'm surprised Bats is allowed to go international and reveal a connection between Batman and Bruce Wayne!

Really?? Woah! I hope it turns out right!

Although the Hawks story has been one of the weaker ones in Brightest Day (along with Martian Manhunter until #12, and Hawk and Dove who still haven't really done much), as a Hawkman fan I've enjoyed their appearances in the series. I moreorless agree with Babs on this review, but

Anyways, a good review. Looking forward to seeing how everything pans out, and I'll also be looking out for that Hawkman ongoing.

this issue was awsome
Posted by Outside_85

I still wonder what's going on in the grand scheme of things in BD, the part i guess is about Deadman and his quest to find....something?
The rest just seems to be 5-6 seperate mini-series with litte or no connection to each other.

It depends on who is going to stay and go, in each case the reason should be different.

Wow Hawkgirls mom really IS  a bitch !

"What a bitch" LOL Love it. I agree. The art is flipping pure awesomeness. I was reading the reviews attached to the Brightest Day 13 page and they weren't so good. I loved it! I don't get it. I'm really loving what Johns is doing and the art is to die for. Great review.

I love Hawkman and Hawkgirl.  Brightest day has been good for me so far.

Posted by sly1015

I love brightest day but i just wish they would have brought Ted Kord back. I think that would have been very cool especially since whats going on with Maxwell Lord in generation lost.

nice review. i'm still not a big fan of hawkman/hawkgirl tho. I am however a huge fan of that midriff action !
