@jlat: He did have a big grin on his face in this issue since he "knows" that Bruce is still alive somewhere.

I've been trying to catch up on red robin but....my local comic book shop keeps getting sold out of copies lol.
I think Tim Drake is a great character and I hope he's the one who finds Bruce Wayne...

Totally agree. This has been my favorite DC series.   I liked this issue and I'm curius to see the direction they take.

Can't wait to pick this up! Tim Drake is one of my favorite characters!

The biggest twist/surprise in this series will be if Tam survives

im really enjoying the series and i think chris yost is finally doing tim some justice and tim looks like a teenager again, what a result!!!!!!!

@G-Man: If Tim's smile wasn't enough, Yost makes sure that he thought-bubbles outright a few times that he's happy.

Good review. It was definitely nice to step back and catch up with the rest of the Bat-universe.

Great re-view! This story is getting pretty deep, but I don't think Tam will die sure killing her will hurt Tim (Tam and Tim how cute), but Ra's wants to bring down the Wayne Empire, sooo I have a feeling that Hush will die. Im talking a public assassination so there can be no cover up making it that much harder for the real Bruce Wayne to come back and control his company, but whatever happens I look forward to reading the next issue.

I also like that Tim looks older than like 7

Loved it.

This is one of the best bat-universe series. I wonder if Tim should become the next Nightwing, you know if Chris Kent becomes a different super hero

I always thought that's what Dick wanted him to be when he was trying to talk to him in the first issue of Red Robin

This was one of the series in dc i was intrested in geting into. The arts mostly looked amazing an from what i read on these forums its pretty good story.Think ill wait a bit till bruce returns before i play cach up with this title.I kinda agree with another poster if he survies is the key.

The irony of the one person belivieng bruce is alive dieing infront of bruce could be to much high drama for dc to resist.

So is this a good jumping on point for someone who wants to start to read Red Robin?

yeah he's grown up,  I still hate the idea of Robin being at least 16.  Nothing tough about a 10 year.  Its a comicbook and nothing is believable but 10 year olds, come on.

I think so. It really establishes what's going on in the Bat-universe and Tim's world as we head to Bruce's return.

Best part of the issue: The look on Kon's face when Tim just randomly brohugs him.
It was one of those, "Dude, we're BFF's,but we're not at the Blue and Gold level just yet. Chill." moments. Look like I'm not going to be dropping this series after all...
The one thing I'm not liking, though, is he whole Tim/Tam thing. I mean, I know he's a hormonal teenager and everything, but is it possible for the writers to NOT throw a random chick with little to no backstory at Tim for a change? Seriously, a show of hands from the people who were aware of her existance prior to Red Robin.

I haven't even been able to read this series after issue 1. Tim is my favorite character, but he was always the gentle one, who didn't even want to hit a rampaging monster, because it wasn't its fault. At least at the beginning of the series, THAT WAS NOT TIM.

It's good to see Tim back in Gotham City, can't wait too see what happens next.

im a big drake fan too.
The whole point of Tim putting on the Red robin costume was so he could break loose a bit. He had always been working under the rules of Bruce, and him putting on the new costume was pretty much his way of making his own rules without fear of ruining the Robin name. So technically, the begining of the series was more tim than we have ever seen before.
but i get what you mean, and if the series hadnt balanced out like it did i would have agreed with you.
go ahead and read the rest of the series. it really does tim justice, and kinda puts the first couple of issues into perspective.

i watch these everytime and they make me want to pick it up. so far i aint got but 1 issue.

@G-Man: u trip men out every time u say "huh?"
Posted by ord

man i gotta get this comic book
Posted by Zejeck

Yea, this is a pretty good issue. The darker Tim seems to have tonned done a bit now that he knows that Bruce is alive.  Im still wondering if he's gonna tell anyone about it, dick, damian, alfred..anyone? I think Ra's is in over his head, Dick Grayson beat the shit outta him, right before the battle for the cowl arc. Im pretty sure he could do it again.

Anyone else notices how Ras calls Tim "Detective". Those are high props coming from him.

I do have 2 complaints.  The first being how Tam is depicted visually but that's just me.  The other being this comic was a bit too light, it was a very quick read and over before I knew it.

Still, there were some great moments and the whole Dr. Mid-Nite thing was funny.  Never liked the concept of Robin, but Tim and Tim as Red Robin I do.   Time will only tell--pun intended--what will happen with Bruce.  Will Tim be the one to "rescue" Batman?  Trouble's a-brewing with Ra's.    Tim's reaction at the Batcave was what you'd expect.

Do you think Tim really talks that way, G-Man?

Good stuff keeps getting better

Wow only the right side of my speaker was working so I couldn't hear anyhting btu the subtle background music cause G-man's voice only comes out in the left side and I thought somethign was wrong..

Posted by Freddy.Mercurial

i have a strong feelin' DC is gunna "steve rogers" bruce wayne upon his return...  i.e. put him in some position of power so he doesnt need to be out in the streets bangin' heads as batman...  i think this is the status quo for the forseeable future...  bruce wayne as head of assassins guild?  mayor of gotham??  president of the US???  director of SHIELD...  um, CADMUS?  :/

Posted by cmaprice

What if we have a situation where when Bruce comes back, he's given more freedom tonot be defined by his dual identity?

We've got Dick as Batman.
Hush as Bruce.
Potentially the guy emerging from the Lazarus Pit as Batman.
And soon, Bruce back.

It may be interesting if he delegates parts of his persona in order to "streamline" how he defines himself. At least for a few issues after he returns.

Posted by SigersonLTD

It would seem that everyone is thinking that Bruce getting back to the present precludes him taking the "Mantle of the Bat" away from Dick, and I seriously don't see this happening anytime soon. What's to stop us from having 2 Batmans? Bruce works with the JLA, Dick takes care of local crime. The status quo doesn't have to change, simply because we have too many costumed vigilantes running around Gotham.

After you've traveled through time, don't you think you'd take a rest?

I've got a question, when Tim's wondering is Tam's worked out the Red robin/robin/batman angle....why did he tell her he was called red robin? It's not exactly a well known character (that's the point of him choosing that costume) and during the previous storyline no one ever called him by that moniker. Ra's & the league all called him Drake or 'detective' and it's not like he had it stiched on his chest.

Finally got to read this today and loved it up until spoiler, Tim should just let Ra's destroy her

Posted by Dane

I think it's Ra's, not Raish.

My cb store was all sold out of this issue.

everything except your voice plays G- Man. =/

I think this whole Red Robin thing is going to wind up in an unexpected place, but I gotta be honest - I'm gonna blog about it, instead of putting it here (gotta take care of those quests). lol
