Batman had a clone.

My favorite clones: the Mauler twins from Invincible.

X-23 is my my favorite cloned hero. She had a messed up in the beginning but now she's going at it under her own power. Her decisions are now her own it seems and I hope they keep it that way.

Too many clones is like too much time travel. They're staples of comic books and sci fi and such.

It's also what's been making mainstream comic books stagnant.  Clones and time travel aren't necessarily bad things, but Marvel and DC keep crawling further and further up their own asses to the point that ongoing readers drop out and new readers can't get in.  Only the super-super-super hardcore can keep up, which isn't good for a company's growth.

It depends on the clone. Some like Madelyne Pryor are made for a specific storylines and then just kinda fade into the background. Others like Scarlet Spider, X-23 and even Superboy go different directions and become independent and interesting characters. It isn't whether they're a clone or not; it's the intentions and forethought of the writers.
