that was a great review

Posted by ElRolas

This is a great idea, but you kind of gotta talk about the whole arc instead of only one issue. Its gonna be hard for people to find this stuff if the wanna read it.

Hey, I love the smell of old printed papers, and especially CD booklets too. That burned alike smell. Yeah, weird..

Posted by G Bird

Awesome, I'm gonna buy this arc now!

Posted by punkelias

I love the passion with you reviewed this comic. Just for that I'm buying it from amazon right now.

Holy many deaths, Batman!!! (did you get the reference?) I am 31 and I even didn't know that Batman died  in the 80's. If you don't mind me asking, G-man exactly how old are you?

Posted by Eisenheim

Nice job, G-Man! I'm going to have to re-read the Byrne run again

Posted by G-Man
@AmazingSpiderMike: Older than 31.

This video should go in the Newsrama Presents: The Dozen Deaths of the Dark Knight:

http://www.newsarama.com/comics/110826-Batman-Deaths.html

Did you know: Batman has been killed-off and resurrected more than at least 10x's in his comics history?
Who'd a thought mere mortal Bruce Wayne is really a demi-god from Asgard... or gasp, possess the Pheonix Force!

P.S. Just for fun...

75 cents for a Batman comic.  Sounds like heaven.

The full story was collected into trade

This was an awesome review and I actually do wanna try and find those three issues somewhere.

Hey, G-Man, how about a tour of your garage
I want some KrustyOs

Posted by _brandon

the late 80s - early 90s was an awesome time to be a batman fan. i totally remember this issue and storyline. this was the type of story that would have easily fit in the legends of the dark knight series. was that a kelley jones cover?

excellent review

WOW O_O I WANT YOUR GARAGE lmao

I have this comic.  Nice Hush toys G-Man... :)

cool garage, that was a great review, i am a huge fan of batman,

I agree G-Man. Comics are the only thing that hold up from the 80s. The music and the hairstyles may have fallen but the decade's comic standards didn't slip.

I really enjoyed this video, one of the many reasons I love this site. I would like to see more reviews of good hidden gems. I can think of many from my collection.

One of many Batman deaths
my fave is from a Brave and the Bold issue where the Atom hops around in Batman's brain to get him moving again

Posted by Omega Ray Jay

Another outstanding Video G-man, these are becoming one of my favorites.  Sounds like a really good solid issue, you can't beat the smell and touch of those types of comics. I really want to know what happens now! in 89 I think I was about 1.

What's funny about this is that Batman's suit is electric-proof yet they were shocking him at the hospital..

Posted by PaxCM

Batman died the same month I was born 1989, weird.

I have a copy of the trade.   Is it still in print though?  I don't know for sure.

BTW, G-Man, you may have just moved it off camera, but thank you for moving your original art from the garage. ;)

@G-Man: Hey G-Man are you selling some of those comics or action figures?
Posted by TimothyWessel

I dislike the way this guy talks... very much.... my intrigue of batman made me watch the whole episode..ugg.

I did not know they killed him in the 80's...how informative...

Love the garage reviews.  Takes me back.  I loved collecting the batman title and the Detective Comics when I was younger I some how missed this arch.  I might have been getting out of the scene for a while by '89.   Was in high school had a job and was into playing football by then.   Good job G-man keep 'em coming.   Go back further into the 80's, like 1985 or something.  Just for the fun of it.  Loved uncanny x-men back in the mid 80's.

I was born three years later and i am not a big batman fan but this arc i have just got to have great now i have to spend more money oh well its worth it

Nice garage, the opening was petty cool and G-Man is a Gorillz fan!?

This is great. The first issue I got after reading the "Death in the Family" arc was number 434, part two of the this arc. I officially started collecting comics with this issue. Jim Aparo is great because he draws scenes with tilted angles, which is cinematic, dramatic, and reminiscent of the sixties television series. His artwork, along with the Death in the Family arc and my love of Batman, is what made me a comic book devotee. It was interesting the Batman movie came out that same year. What a great time to be alive and be a Batman fan!

Cool review!
I really liked the intro.

Posted by G-Man

By the way, I was joking about Batman actually dying. What ends up happening is different dudes are getting dressed up as Batman and getting killed. Who and why is what the arc is about.

Posted by ComiCCloseup

Can we get a video of you showing off all that cool stuff in your garage?

Posted by G-Man

My garage isn't all that impressive. Lots of boxes. I sometimes rotate things for each video (like the HUSH figures here).

I was just in the garage and pulled out like a dozen comics I want to review. TOO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM!!

Posted by Farley Deering

Wow that was my 1st Batman comic when I was a kid.  Damn my mum for chucking out my old comics...oh the memories!!!

Posted by FLStyle
@G-Man: Surely you can find a wall for that poor Gorillaz poster :( How hard will it be to find copies of these three comics?
Edited by G-Man
@FLStyle:
That Gorillaz banner used to be in our old office. When we moved, I brought it back home. I just looked and found a bunch on ebay. Amazon market sellers also have them.

Great review.  I'm really enjoying this new feature.
I can't believe that I was 1 year old at the time of this coming out.  Comics are immortal!

Posted by ArtisticNeedham

Is that a box of Krusty Os?  I used to eat those.

Posted by teewillis1981

I was at my LCS and I found all three issues! I was so excited! LOL thanks G-man!
