The clock is ticking and there's only two-minutes to talk about characters with superhero code-names that don't use them anymore.

I guess there is also titles as well for heroes, Batman is called The Dark Knight, Caped Crusader etc along with others heroes (The Scarlet Speedster etc.) But I guess if they're relevant for heroes then use, if not then don't.

Power Man should go back to using that moniker for 4 reasons:

  • (1) This is the MU, where superheroes and villains are the big players. People would be more willing to pay for a guy who has a superhero aesthetic.
  • (2) His longest running series was titled Power Man and Iron Fist.
  • (3) Having people refer to Luke as Power Man can build up the urban legend surrounding himself.
  • (4) "Power Man" is no more silly than "Iron Fist" or "Daredevil."

Luke needs to get back to his roots--back yo when he was really bad. Like seriously.

He earned the Power Man name with his fists. You can't just turn your back on your legacy. :P

For number 4) I think "Iron Fist" is a meh name but "Daredevil" is pretty bad ass IMO

I think the whole motif is badass, but if you took away the devil imagery and just kept the name, then you're left with something that isn't that cool.

That said, the devil motif leaves him open for some great puns and one-liners.

  • It's time to pay the devil his due
  • To play the devil's advocate...
  • You could say he's Hell's Angel
  • How'd you like to dance with the devil?

I don't think Power Man is an out-dated name, it's not any worse than Superman or Wonderman.

Topic suggestion: Crossovers between companies, their lessened presence in modern comics, and the upcoming Batman '66/Green Hornet crossover

Isn't 'White Queen' based more on Emma's position in the Hellfire Club than a codename?

@youngdoctor: I thought I mentioned that. Like there being a Black Queen, etc. But she went by White Queen for quite a while, even when not really associated with the Hellfire Club.

I fully agree, Characters just out grow their code names over time. but for the most part, if you wear a mask, you have a code name. But if you dont have a mask, you get the "a.k.a." treatment

As a general rule, I think the characters that wear masks should use codenames, and the ones who show their faces shouldn't. If you're not hiding your identity, you obviously don't care who knows it.

Talk about heroes or villains who should be concerned with their inheritance and legacy once they pass on. Meaning the ones who don't already have apprentices or plans for their future. Or talk about the heroes and villains who do, and what affect that their precautions will have on them.
