Nice trailer. Hope they show more in the future

So...why was this posted a second time?

Posted by MarvelMan1985

Wow Incredible!! Im very much looking forward to this, even more then Thor: The Dark World...and that says something. It's like Ed Brubaker's Captain America run came to life :)

Posted by danhimself

I actually thought that the first Captain America was the best out of the original movies and this one looks even better than that!

Posted by The_Absolute

My only gripe would be that Falcon's costume lacks color. It isn't super-heroic enough. I wish they'd make it a little more fun? and less dark.

Maybe in his second appearance he'll have a new costume. :)

Always gotta be positive when it comes to these kinds of things. If you take it all too seriously then it doesn't become fun anymore.

Anyway, as for this trailer, I love it a whole helluva lot. GO BUCKY GOD!!!

Maybe it's just that good...

But seriously, it's pretty damn good. I wish I could get half as excited about Thor. Whereas this and Iron Man (and to a disappointingly lesser extent Agents of Shield) build off of the wider cinematic universe, and offer the promise of some spectacular synergistic nerdgasm, Thor seems very self-contained and small somehow. I mean, is everyone in the movie universe going to be constantly talking about the Dark Elf attack on wherever it is in Thor 2 the way they obsess about the Battle of New York? For some reason, I don't think so. Just like how no one ever mentions Abomination's rampage or Hammer's battle drones (wiped from the collective consciousness because the movies were weak, I suppose). Winter Soldier seems to be building SHIELD's mythology very organically (as opposed to the forced exposition of Iron Man 2) so that another franchise like Ant-Man or Agents of Shield, or something we don't even know is coming yet, could keep going. Thor, ultimately, is a dead end for the shared universe, which is still a really novel and exciting thing to me.

EDIT: Also, is it just me or does ScarJo seem very low energy here? She sounds like she's already tired of this gig.

@kriminal: Crossbones was in it. First on the jet telling the guy Cap in fact did not take a parachute, and possibly in the elevator with the stun stick. I hope I'm wrong on the latter because I want Brock to be a physical threat.

He's going to go through a change later on in the film. Who knows what will happen to him, but maybe by the end of the movie he leaves to train under Taskmaster. In his origin story, he was just a good fighter with good instinct the Taskmaster found later. He didn't start to excel till the Taskmaster maxed out his potential.

Posted by RisingBean

@slimj87d: I just doubt he'll get more then one movie. I think they are going to pass him off to Falcon or Widow truthfully. But it would be nice if something like that occurred. Hell, I'd like to see Taskmaster in a movie.

Well they said something along the lines that "you'll know why they call him Crossbones. He goes through a transformation later on." I don't think they mean physically, but he will probably draw a crossbones on his gear or something.

As to everyone else that is worried about Bucky losing his Russian roots, I don't think he will because of the Russian sar on his arm and Sebastian Stan quoted as saying that he read, researched and studied everything he could on the Cold War assassinations and sleeper agents he could find.

It kind of doesn't make sense for someone to throw a shield like that but when I play around with my own Captain America shield it's impossible to throw like a frisby. Lol. Not many ways you could throw it effectively.

It really doesn't make sense for a person to take super-human roids, and fight a guy who's skin melted off his face and the blood stayed on dry.

I'm really not in it for sense making. Not insulting you, and I'm only putting that out there because it's almost the same issue I had with people attacking Hawkeye's arrow holding position.

I don't mind or care if things don't make sense because there's no way around them. Like the Super Soldier Serum. But there are actual ways you could actually throw the shield, why go out of your way to make a throw of the shield that doesn't look possible?

Regardless, the scene still looks awesome and I love the GIF. I never would have thought to see my two favorite characters on the big screen together like this. I could die happy if somehow Bucky becomes Captain America in the distant future.

I see your point. Again, I didn't take much notice to it though. All I saw was, Cap threw his shield and Bucky caught it.

That's cool.

@slimj87d: Veshark and I have a private message dialogue going on. I should speak to him and see if we should turn it into a thread. We were thinking Winter Soldier would be either German or SHIELD in origins. Our conspiracy theory is pretty involved.

"Your character has a very Eastern background...Well, like, I don't know much about your personal background, but I did read that you were born in Romania. Does that kind of personal background help you play a role, in approaching someone like Bucky...

Sebastian Stan signs autographs for fans in San Diego

Sebastian Stan

: I was born in Romania, yeah...That's funny, because my friends used to tease me. I grew up, in some sense, in a communist country. I lived there until I was eight years old, but there were still communism. My friends would tease me and call me a red. Its funny, cause, low and behold, I end up with a Red Star on my shoulder. It was a neat little coincidence. I had a lot of time, to physically train, I had three to five months beforehand. Just in terms of body conditioning. In this situation, it's about being extremely flexible, and having extreme endurance. Having these long fight scenes that are epic. Doing that every day, all day, take after take, its almost like being an athlete. That was great. And then, you know, I dove into the whole cold war thing. I looked at the KGB. I looked at all kinds of spy movies, and all kinds of documentaries about that time, and what it was about. I grabbed anything from that time period. Anything about brainwashing. Just anything, cause I had the opportunity to do it. I went all over the place."

I believe he still might be Russian in origin. He still has the Russian red star on his arm too. But we could get surprised, German would make sense story wise due to Arnim Zola strapping him up, but remember Arnim Zola was captured after Bucky fell off the train so I don't think Bucky was collected.

If Natasha is in the movie, I'm hoping the tie together the Winter Soldier in her own personal history. That would help it make sense.

@slimj87d: If the U.S. (precursors to SHIELD) recovered him, then as a captured Nazi scientist, Zola may have had a hand in things. We swooped up many German scientists back in the 40's. That's how I think Zola would be involved. And Zola is going to have some role in it. I hope a small one, because I am not a fan.

Thanks for the info. If we start a Winter Soldier conspiracy theory thread, I'll be sure to link you.

If you start one, I'm game.

I personally think that the Winter Soldier is hired to make a hit on Nick Fury by Redford's character. Redford might have some rogue SHIELD agents in his hand, but it's not enough, and he has to hire a mercenary group who used to be part of communist Russia. This is where the Winter Soldier comes into play.

It'll turn out that Redford is trying to overthrow SHIELD with chaos. At the end of the movie, we'll find out who was really pulling the strings and the employer of the Winter Soldier who Redford had struck a deal with. Hopefully it's a Red Skull possesed Lukin or something.

But I think the third movie, if the Russos come back, will be about taking down the mysterious force. Or it might be affected by Avengers 2 and have nothing to do with Captain America 2.

OR

It could go the route you guys think. He's a Nazi brainwashed spy that SHIELD recovered and Captain America 2 will have good closure to the end with some kind of mystery ending after the credits.

OR

It could be a mixture of 1 and 2.

I'm really excited. Russo brothers can do this.

@slimj87d: We think Redford (Pierce) is the bbeg too. Is it that obvious?

@slimj87d: We think Redford (Pierce) is the bbeg too. Is it that obvious?

Yeah... It's too obvious... That's why I think there's someone REALLY pulling the strings. Hopefully it's the Red Skull mind controlling someone.

Posted by Flash_Batarang22

I think it is Zemo pulling the strings commanding Ford's character and Ford hiring the Winter Solider to kill Fury

then Stark creates Ultron

then they assemble

then Batman vs Superman film is doomed as we know it

I like the theme about SHIELD using excessive force to prevent crimes but going a little over the edge.

Yeah, I think adding a little red to his costume wouldn't hurt.

But this movie looks awesome!

I think they were purposely going away from 'fun' - as bright costumes would kinda clash with the tone of the movie. If you'll note, everyone is decked in dark 'spy' colors (even Cap), and Falcon is based off the Ultimate version.

But I do agree with a little red though - I think that something like red goggles would be enough to show the character.

Who knows, if he ever joins the Avengers, he might get a more superheroic look.
