Can I ask why Waller is always portrayed as a larger woman? Not like, large in the average sense, but here she's like....unhealthily large

Posted by i_dont_like_comics

most incompetent waller ever. more than new52 even.

Posted by worldFlash

@crackdown: Thats what the character was like before the new 52. Probably because more fans liked her better that way and its obvious that she didn't get her job by having a pretty face. Why is there no obese people 95% of the time comics? I wouldn't mind a fat superhero, if you have a superpower it doesn't really matter if you are fat.

I already saw the leaked version, keep forgetting it's not technically out let on DVD, lol. Anyway, I absolutely loved this film, best DC animated movie in a long time.

As for Fat vs Skinny Waller, I really don't have a preference.

@crackdown: because that's how she got nicknamed The Wall, it's supposed to be a dig she turned into a positive. Other than being honestly a bit taller it's keeping in her old Justice League apprence anyway.

Fat Waller works better because she looks more "drill sergeant intimidating". And she's "the Wall".

She was more "average large", as you put it, in Young Justice.

Where did you see it? Pirate Bay?

@micah: Nah, I just typed in "watch Assault on Arkham" and clicked on a link, Putlocker, I think.

Thanks just found it. Of course when it comes out I will still buy it, gotta support the industry :)

I actually prefered her look in Arkham Origins.

Yeah, I'm buying it too to support them and because I liked the movie, ha. But I just couldn't wait.

I hear you LOL

@worldflash: Probably because to be a hero you need to be in shape both physically and (hopefully) mentally.

Fat Waller is back?! This makes me so happy I might actually see this movie. Its been awhile since I've watched any DC animation.

Posted by nappystr8

@worldflash: Probably because to be a hero you need to be in shape both physically and (hopefully) mentally.

So if you have the power of telekinesis which allows you to lift large objects or fly strictly from the power of your mind, why exactly would you need to spend hours in the gym everyday and watch what you eat in order to stop crimes? Unbreakable skin would not require a fat person to loose weight in order to enter combat. Physical fitness has minimal or nor positive effects for at least half of the powers that writers have created.

Waller's arch nemesis is cholesterol.

Posted by ScarletBatman

Waller is supposed to be hefty but this Waller is... The exact opposite of the New 52 Waller.

lol I too have been wondering about this in the DCAU in general she's always huge lol. yet in the shows, movies and comics she's thinner. Weird..lol

Maybe they're trying to give her a sense of "power" physically intimidating? IDK lol.

GL Waller=skinny

Smallville Waller=skinny

Comic book waller(well N52 at least) =skinny

DCAU movies waller and shows=fat

YJ=don't remember but she wasn't HUGE that much I remember.

Any rate, this movie looks awesome!

The return of "The Wall" alone is enough to make me want to watch this movie.

Edited by Outside_85

@fallingcliffs: It's more to do with Waller's back-story, which features sexual abuse, a ghetto and a dead family. Also it has to do with Waller originally not actually having any military background, she was in one word: a politician. An extremely ruthless politician who knows just the right words to say and lean just the right way to intimidate the hell out of whoever she pleases.

Also, there is was certain charm over her, considering she is not a fit person or someones idea of a nightmare vision and she is still able to stare down people who are uber-fit and twice her size.

I know true continuity is a thing of the past, but how do Harley and Deadshot fit into Arkham City with bombs in their necks?

Also, the art looks like the old Aeon Flux cartoon. I'll check this out for sure.

one of my favorite batman movies beside under the red hood and dark knight returns. batmans acrobatic and martial arts skills were portrayed nicely, the voice acting was on point .nice roster of villains all true to character

Posted by Fallingcliffs

@basterd_swordsman: Yeah speaking of his athletic and martial art skills, he looks kind of crazy in this one Batman I mean lol.

@outside_85: Ha, nice. Thanks for that explanation. I didn't read much with her in oldschool comics, so didn't know that. I still loved that one scene in JLU where Batman snuck in her shower lol. That cracked me up.

Edited by SupBatz

@iaconpoint: Don't worry, they answer that in the movie.

As for Waller, I, too, am glad to see fat Waller. Not everybody in comics needs to be super thin. And if anything, the size makes her more imposing.

That being said, I do not like Waller's facial design. To many lines. I dislike pretty much every character's design in this movie.

That what I love about Amanda Waller: cunning like the Batman but more deadly like Ra's al Ghul

Posted by CaptainMarvel4Ever

@nappystr8: 1. I was explaining

2. Even with telekinesis you still need to move around, that's why all the psychics who join the X-Men still have to train with the others.

Posted by mysoulz

I was always more used to the pre 52 Waller. Good to see her original form.

Posted by nappystr8

@captainmarvel4ever: While a little extra speed, strength, or agility is never a bad thing for a superhero to have, I still don't think any of it is necessary if you can catapult yourself across the battlefield with your mind or shield yourself with debris. In real life cops take on situations just as dangerous as many threats faced by superheros. They have no powers at all to give them a special edge, and plenty of them make do with overweight or obese bodies. They have to meet basic physical fitness standards, and they do. I think the reason we don't see more realistic body types in comics has a lot less to do with field readiness and a lot more to do with cultural biases against certain body types in the media, but I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

@fallingcliffs: Waller wasn't skinny in Smallville. I personally like the New 52 Waller over the old one.

I really like and am interested in the character of Amanda Wallet. I wish they wouldn't solely associate her with Suicide Squad titles and give her a bit more spotlight in the DCU.

I know it was everyone's thing but I really enjoyed the one shot that came out this year.

Posted by kid Apollo

@crackdown: makes her look more physically imposing. shes running around in a world of super men, its a tactic to make her look like she isnt incredibly out of her league

She wasn't super thin but not fat either, Pam Grier is average at most but still relatively thin...when you compare her to P52 waller and the animated movies versions lol.

Pam Grier is older now too mind you but in her acting prime she was actually the thinnest of all of them.

As you can see even Pam's is still a lot thinner vs. the comic book pre 52 versions, which are huge...Grier looks thin compared to P52 waller still. So definitely not fat.

Also not sure if people know but the actress they got for Waller in Arrow is also skinny.

http://tvline.com/2013/09/04/arrow-cynthia-addai-robinson-amanda-waller-season-2/

Cynthia's is more similar to N52's waller, very skinny. I like both versions, but N52 I'm fine with too.

Because big women need love too. I just read The new Suicide Squad, and she is a lot slimmer, and prettier. Not saying one has to do with the other, just saying.

On a side note, though, it's a great movie. If nobody has seen it, it's a real treat. DC is putting out some great animated movies as of late, in my humble opinion.

This looks like a Suicide Squad movie (it's the first I've heard of this movie). Looks interesting, though I prefer the New 52 version of Waller.

Why not? Diversity includes all kinds of different body types that actually exist in the world.

Frankly the New 52 version is a yawn. Another dime a dozen agent chick.

Its incredible what Dc animation has done with this film to please hardcore fan boys, you can not show this movies to kids anymore... Graphic content all the time

I wholeheartedly agree with you in this. I mean GL only needs to think. I mean if I was a GL i would float everywhere, walking and actual physical activity would be a thing of the past lol.

Just finished this movie it's amazing. It's like DC animation meets Quentin Tarantino.

Nice.

Posted by DARK_PASSENGER

@fallingcliffs: still wouldn't really call her thin though. Saying she's thin compared to the enormous versions doesn't mean she's thin. She's just thinner than her huge versions lol

Edited by Fallingcliffs

@dark_passenger: well like I said shes not fat either plus shes the type to have a rounder face but her body isnt round/fat lol. Definitely seems thinner to me just not new 52 thin but not pre52 gigantic fat either lollol

Posted by DARK_PASSENGER

@fallingcliffs: right but being thinner than an enormous obese person doesn't make you thin. I'm thinner than "the wall" but I'm certainly not thin lol

Posted by Fallingcliffs

@dark_passenger: Well not "thin thin" like a stick, but thinner what I'm saying. Technically I'd consider Smallville chick average but definitely not super skinny and definitely not fat either.

Her PreN52 version was gigantic lol

Posted by DARK_PASSENGER

@fallingcliffs: I would definitely consider Smallville version fat. But that's just my opinion. But yeah definitely not pre 52. Good GRIEF

Edited by Fallingcliffs

@dark_passenger: Yeah all good, I definitely wouldn't lol IMO. But to each his own ;) I'm just pointing out that she's not nearly as huge as her cartoon and comic book(pn52) counterparts. The N52 is super skinny and athletic though so big change for her look wise. She's a cool character anyway.
