Here's the odd thing about Bane, how is it that he just cause a break out at Arkham, but had to fake his death to escape the prison he was born in?
It looks as if they pulled a Venom(Eddie Brock) with Bane in the comics. They made a terrible enemy into an ally. They are both big and beefy characters. I wonder if that's just a coincidence.

As always, incredible video editing work on this. Really well done. Must be a pain to gather all those images from older comics.

Once again Joey does an amazing job at editing (It was especially fun to see Tony behind bars!)

Bane is a character I only knew as a brute strength Batman enemy. I didn't know there was so much to his character!
I always learn form the features! Thanks Tony!

Bane is one of the many, many, many reasons to read Secret Six. Bane and Scandal Savage make one of the most odd yet compelling and genuine "couples" in comic books today.

The idea of Bane joining the Secret Six sounded a little weird when I first heard about it, but putting him in this surrogate father/daughter relationship with Scandal was a stroke of genius on Gail Simone's part, which helped Bane integrate the team seamlessly, as though he'd always been there.

It's a shame that most people only know him as "The Man Who Broke the Bat", because he's much more interesting now than he ever was in the Bat books.

This whole pseudo redemption is weak especially since the video forgot he mercilessly killed Judomaster just because. It's weak because rather than treat him like a real villain to Batman because writers could not make it work more than once so he became what he is now which far less impressive than when he first showed up. I would love for someone with gritty writing like Brian Azzarello  write him and bring him back to his old self.

@FoxxFireArt:  if he broke out of prison he would be a wanted man , and if batman beat him would be sent back, faking his own death means his government wont go looking for him , and start up fresh with the bane identity

Really?he has an actual personality now.his whole redemption was built ip right from vengeance of bane 2 all the way up to gotham knights,if anything its the judomaster back breaking incident which was lame and uncalled for.
hell in villians united talia mentioned bane as one of those people who was not willing to joing the society, but for some reason he was a member in IC,after which he got owned by thomas jagger and was horribly written in gotham underground(Dc basically failed in an attempt to make him a villian),lets stick to the current development.

@johnny spam:  Like many things in comics, I view the Judomaster murder as apocryphal.  Although on further consideration, I believe one of the truly interesting things about Bane is his unique, literally self made morals.  He had no parents to teach him right from wrong.  I'd argue to this day he is still figuring that out...

You know, until I started reading Secret Six,all I knew about Bane was from the Batman movie. I can now clearly see that that's not who he really is and I think bane is an awesome character. So yeah, this helped.

Interesting argument I just cannot see someone with such violent murderous actions being forgiven by Batman as a villain he was unique he was equal in intelligence and strength and even from what I understand now he is still not the mastermind he was then there was much brilliance in Bane being an evil Doc Savage it is a shame it is not used anymore.

I had known there was a lot more to Bane's character than what was in the movie, but I had no idea just how complex his character was.
This was really cool and informative.

There was also some cool/weird interactions when Bane was with Ra's and Talia. But again, it's a matter of trying to cut down the history to somewhere sorta close to three minutes.

Well gee.  Thanks for spoiling my expectations of what Bane was all about.  Here I thought he defeated Batman because he was incredibly strong.  Turns out, it was because he was clever and incredibly strong.  (Wearing him down before the fight.)  When Batman wasn't tired from recapturing all of Arkham's villains he managed to defeat Bane.  Illusions have been shattered.

Banes not as much a one note character as I thought he was.  Great 3 Minute Expert.
I bet he will straddle the fence of good and evil in the movie too.  Perhaps he will be somewhat inspired by Batman in the movie like the Joker was, but this time trying to do good instead of chaos.

Great 3-min Expert.  I haven't really kept up with Bane past Knightfall, so this was definitely something that showed the level of depth they've added to the character since that time.

I think his intelligence has still been displayed since Knightfall, though admittedly not on the same scale. He's still as cunning as he is strong IMO. And I think he's been better developed since his "turn from villainy". It was well written and occurred logically. Also I still see Bane as a villain. I mean all of the Secret Six are villains, that's what makes their title so interesting to me.

Dude he didn't give you the half of it.  Bane watches from a distance while the prison break is going on to judge Batman and in an internal monologue straight up thinks to himself "If I meet him on even terms I may be stronger but he is too fast, too skilled, I will lose." or something to that effect.  What's funnier is that no one ever mentions Batman could have taken him later on too, it is just he was unwilling to use the weapons he had at hand because they would have killed Bane and he refused to cross that line.

By the time he actually fought Batman Bruce had been awake for two weeks straight, had fought god knows how many criminals, and had literally been in a life or death struggle with the Joker just a few hours before.  Any skilled martial artist probably could have taken him at that point.  Azreal dropped Bane like a punk when they finally fought, hell in one issue Robin almost took him out.  Batman didn't lose to Bane, in my opinion it was bad writers and or DC's desire for headlines.

I'm pretty pleased with this video. I didn't know a lot a lot about Bane before. :) And I'm happy with the choice of Bane as the next villain. I'm sure Nolan'll do him justice, and give him the brains and the brawn.

The thing that was bugging me at first-- the ethnicity of the actor, as much as I like the actor-- I realise now isn't as bad as it seemed. I'd only realised recently that Bane wasn't (at least not completely) Hispanic. It's still a little iffy, but at least it's not a completely Hispanic character being cast with a Caucasian.

To clarify: I think it'd have been great if he was cast with a Hispanic actor-- there are great ones, and it'd be nice to get some more diversified representation-- but at least it's not... he's not pulling an MNS (like with The Last Airbender). At least the character's not supposed to be completely Hispanic. :|a

IMO, that's why Bane gets the points.  Batman wins and takes out everything from brutes to geniuses, super-villains to Superman because of one thing: tactics. (well, cool toys and training helps as well).  Bane defeated the master of tactics by using tactics.  If Bane had just caught Batman on a bad day and beat him, then yeah, that'd be pretty lame, but he created Joker-worthy chaos then put a Ra’s al Ghul-worthy beat down on him.  When he subsequently fought more 'straight up', he fared about as well as Batman would trading even punches with Wonder Woman.

He's not my favorite semi-villain, but I do like that he's not just a brain or a brute.  I'm just hoping they portray that in the upcoming film.
