    Venom

Character » Venom appears in 2794 issues.

The Venom symbiote originally bonded with Peter Parker, AKA Spider-Man, during his adventure in the first Secret Wars on the Beyonder's planet called Battleworld. Initially, he thought the symbiote was just an attire. However, upon his discovery, he rejected it because he realized that it was sentient. Since then, the symbiote has bonded with several other hosts, including Eddie Brock, Angelo Fortunato, Flash Thompson, Ann Weying, and even Carol Danvers. Currently, its host is Eddie Brock.

Is Venom (in his true form) too Buff now?

Skinny Venom = bad Venom.  Buff is the way to go.  In all the good Venom stories Venom is buffed out.

there has to be a difference between the times when Flash in control and when he's not so they illustrate that with the size change and him changing appearance to back to classic Venom...it's kind of like Jeckyll and Hyde

Venom should be super buff in his true form, he is supposed to be an intimidating, out of control character. Being skinny and strong is Spider-Man's job.

In the beginning Venom was only slightly larger than Spider-Man. Thanks to the nineties, now anyone can look like the Hulk.

He's slightly larger than Eddy Brock's original build. And yes, most of his muscles were accumulated from basic aerobics and training, not the result of a giant-sized symbiote. Now he is drawn like either the Incredible Hulk or a buffed out Godzilla. I fear by 2018, Venom will be a ball of abs with teeth. I'll never do crunches again.

eh thats erik larson. venom was originally designed by mcfarlane, who drew him a bit beefier than that: CLASSIC

but youre right that hes bigger now than he was before. but i like that, i think it makes him more monstrous, kinda cool.

Classic Eddie Venom was perfect He looked like a Large Buff powerfully built man. But he still looked the size of a persopn. like a spider-man villain. not a Hulk Villain.

Symbiocide has summed up what I have been saying for years now perfectly. Venom is not supposed to be a giant blob of veiny muscles and tendrils. many of the current artists seem to forget that he started out as a foil character for Spiderman. Like Sabretooth for Wolverine, Venom was supposed to posses similar qualities to Spiderman but have his own dark uniqueness that made him Spider's opposite. Similar abilities and look, just different. Like Yin and Yang.

These days venom barely looks related to Spiderman at all. I know the artists want to play up how savage the symbiote makes people but having them turn into a dinosaur is not the way to go lol.

@Symbiocide: Anti-Venom being lean and lanky is what makes him more suited to the role of Anti-Venom. It makes perfect sense that he'd be skinny given that current Venom is ridiculously huge.

But I agree with everyone else. Venom was best when he was muscularly buff. However, the monster-size works for illustrating a lack of control like in the current Venom book.

    I dislike Giant Buff VEnom

I understand Flash has this Jeckel and Hyde thing going on but it's just weird sometimes.

See Peter never got huge when he wore the suit Eddie did but people say he used to body build or was a body builder.

Flash isn't big but once the symbiote takes control sometimes he turns into a giant or a buff giant. It's sometimes too much for me.

The only way I can rationalize this is that the symbiote feeds of anger so Peter never had a lot of it since he truly appreciated the people in his life. Eddie was more emo plus he was already a body builder so of course he will be bigger. Thombson is special because he hold in all the anger he grew up with an Alcoholic abusive father, so when he's in control he's a fair size. Once the symbiote is in control it feeds off all of his hidden anger and turns into a Buff Giant (sometime.)

Mcfarlane venom. I always picture venom being spider-man but better...stronger, faster, so obviously bigger but not a hulk....he doesn't even resemble a "spider" man when he is in that blob form.
