What do you think of this?

Watching this trailer...the music...seeing Spidey walk with his head down as chaos surrounds him...it's so beautiful and such a bummer at the same time.  I haven't followed too much about this game.  I've seen images and the early trailer.  When I was sent this trailer, I had to post it right away.  I want nothing more that to have the perfect Spider-Man game.  Activision has done a good job in the past.  There's always been something to throw things off, if even just a little bit.

Could this be the Spidey game I've been waiting for?  Will this be the game to make me use my PS3 for more than just watching Blu-ray movies?  Part of me hopes not since it looks so depressing.  Time will tell.

Now to go and watch the trailer again.

Aaaah.

More Venom on the Big Screen

This is what the Hollywood Reporter reported:

With Heath Ledger's villainous Joker drawing attention and boxoffice dollars, Sony is moving forward with "Venom," a potential "Spider-Man" spinoff based on a bad guy.

The studio is developing the project, based on the gooey nemesis who appeared in "Spider-Man 3" and is hoping the character could serve as an antidote to the aging "Spider-Man" franchise in the way that Fox has used Wolverine to add longevity to its "X-Men" franchise.

Topher Grace played the character in the film, but agents have been eyeing the role for their clients, as Sony is not yet convinced the actor can carry a tentpole picture.Neither Sony nor Marvel would comment for this story.

So what do you think?  I liked Topher Grace.  I do think he would've been a better Spider-Man.  He played a good Venom.  Sure Venom should be a little more...buff, but Topher pulled it off nicely.

Let's just hope that this is done properly and not just cranked out because of the popularity of Heath Ledger's performance as Joker.

Whispering sweet nothings in his ear. Or is that nothing sweet?

Last episode.  But what's this, the voice actors have already finished recording season 2?!?  Now for the animators to get their part done.

Nature Vs. Nurture

School's almost out ... the seasons continue to change ... the Lakers
are toast ... yes, all good things do come to an end -- but it's nice
to know they'll all be back AND better than ever. Well, we hope the
Lakers will improve. But "better than ever" is definitely the case for
"The Spectacular Spider-Man," which ends its first season with an
all-new, action-packed episode entitled "Nature vs. Nurture" this
Saturday, June 14 at 10:00 a.m. ET/PT on CW4Kids.

Coincidentally, "The Spectacular Spider-Man" voice cast recorded its
final episode of the series' second season on Thursday, June 12 --
culminating another 13-episode arc that promises more familiar
characters, unprecedented action and shocking twists than viewers can begin to imagine (though message board participants have certainly outdone themselves in their speculation). Even the cast -- which includes self-professed comic book geeks like Josh Keaton (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), James Arnold Taylor (Harry Osborne), Steve Blum (Green Goblin, Chameleon) -- admitted they were caught off-guard when reading the script prior to entering the recording booth.
At first I thought this image was sideways...

"This show has actually gotten me watching Saturday morning cartoons again," Keaton said. "I'm in front of the TV with my bowl of cereal every Saturday morning and, even though I'm about 13 episodes ahead of everyone else – I already know what's going to happen – I still love waking up and watching because it's so much fun to see how it all comes together. And if you liked the first season, well I'll say this:  You may think you know what happened in the first season, but the second season is going to change all that. Prepare to be surprised."

"Nature vs. Nurture" opens on Thanksgiving as Aunt May Parker is released from the hospital – but Venom has no intention of letting May and Peter Parker enjoy a family celebration.  Knowing all of Spider-Man's secrets – even some Pete isn't consciously aware of – Venom threatens to destroy Pete and everyone he loves most.  Will Pete embrace his destiny in time to defeat this new arch-nemesis?

"Nature vs. Nurture" is written by Kevin Hopps and directed by series producer/supervising director Victor Cook.

Prior to the premiere of "Nature vs. Nurture," CW4Kids will air a repeat of "Persona" at 9:30 a.m. ET/PT.
One way to end an argument with the opposite sex...

"The Spectacular Spider-Man" was the top-rated broadcast network series last Saturday, June 7, continuing to build on its already significant ratings (according to Nielsen). Those ratings have grown with the premiere of each original episode this season, easily trumping the competition -- which is now taking the if-you-can't-beat-'em approach. As further testament to the series' drawing power, the 9:30 a.m. "The Spectacular Spider-Man" encore presentation was the second-most watched show among broadcast network series last week.

Starting next Saturday, June 21, CW4Kids will make some changes to its lineup -- although "The Spectacular Spider-Man" will remain unchanged, airing each Saturday morning at 9:30 & 10:00 a.m. Moreover, CW4Kids will air the entire 13-episode first season in order -- two episodes at a time, and running for seven consecutive weeks.

Joining the lineup are three highly-rated series from another network: "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fast Forward," "Chaotic" and "Yu-Gi-Oh! GX," and triumphantly returning to the CW4Kids lineup is the five-time Emmy Award winning series "The Batman."

For June and July, the CW4Kids schedule will air each Saturday as follows:

7:00 a.m. -- Will & Dewitt
7:30 a.m. -- Magi-Nation
8:00 a.m. -- Tom and Jerry Tales
8:30 a.m. -- Tom and Jerry Tales
9:00 a.m. -- Chaotic
9:30 a.m. -- The Spectacular Spider-Man
10:00 a.m. -- The Spectacular Spider-Man
10:30 a.m. -- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fast Forward
11:00 a.m. -- Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
11:30 a.m. -- The Batman

This post relates to: Eddie Brock, Venom, Spider-Man

No no, I'm bringing the cranberries. You're bringing the pumpkin pie.

I have to say I am both happy and sad about this episode.  It's cool that Venom's making an appearance.  Sure it seems a little fast but why not?  It's what we all want to see.  What interests me is how the "children" will deal with the character.  I know Venom's appeared on the FOX Spider-Man series but the set up was different.  They really went out of their way to set up the brotherly relationship between Peter and Eddie.  I've been watching with my (soon to be) five year old daughter.  She's really into the show but I know her little mind will be trying to grasp the idea that they were friends and now they're not.  But I suppose it could prepare her in case a good friend of hers gets ahold of an alien symbiote next year in kindergarten.

What makes me sad is not that Peter's losing his buddy.  It's that this is the last episode for a while.  I've said it before, let's hope that they are currently working hard prepping the second season.  The ratings have been through the roof so it just makes sense to get cranking on these.  Let's them do something wacky and actually start the season before the "fall."  We get new comics every week so there's no reason that we can't handle new episodes before the fall.  I always thought that was stupid.  Yeah people go on vacations and such but they still watch tv.  And don't most people at least have VCRs if not DVRs?

It's Venom vs. "The Spectacular Spider-Man" in season finale this Saturday, June 14 on CW4Kids

Spider-Man has shed his symbiote suit, but the alien has made Eddie Brock's mind and body its new home – and that lethal combination is coming after Spidey and his friends and relatives in the action-packed season finale of "The Spectacular Spider-Man" this Saturday, June 14 at 10:00 a.m. ET/PT on CW4Kids.

The whole "mouth" thing never really made sense to me.

Entitled "Nature vs. Nurture," the all-new episode opens on Thanksgiving as Aunt May Parker is released from the hospital – but Venom has no intention of letting May and Peter Parker enjoy a family celebration.

Nurture," Kids' WB! will air a repeat of "Persona" at 9:30 a.m. ET/PT.

This post relates to: Spider-Man, Michael Avon Oeming, Mel Rubi, Red Sonja, Venom, Michael Turner

I was surprised at this issue.  I couldn't see how they would pull it off.  Works for me.

Here's a preview for issue #2.

Marvel is pleased to announce that Spider-Man/Red Sonja #1 (of 5) has sold out at Diamond (though copies may be available at the retail level). This five-issue crossover event between Marvel Comics and Dynamite Entertainment marks the historic reunion of Spider-Man and Red Sonja – following up from the classic Marvel Team-Up #79, with the creative team of writer Michael Avon Oeming (Omega Flight), penciler Mel Rubi (Red Sonja) and superstar cover artist Michael Turner with Peter Steigerwald. Now that the two heroes have encountered each other once more, can they find a way to co-exist or will their misunderstanding prevent them from combating the much larger threat of the sinister sorcerer Kulan Gath, and his newest “ally” the original Venom (Eddie Brock!)?

“Reader and retailer reaction to our Swords & Spider-Sense epic has been very rewarding,” said editor Bill Rosemann. “The entire creative team is giving their all to deliver an exciting story worthy of the epics that have come before – so thanks to all who have come along for the ride. But look out! Who’s also jumped onboard? It’s the classic Eddie Brock version of Venom! Hold on to your brains!”

With Venom entering the fray, and Spider-Man fending for his life against the She-Devil with a Sword, can the forces of good hope to win? One thing’s for sure—the only way to find out is to check out Spider-Man/Red Sonja #2, in stores this September!

Please note that Marvel has no plans to go back to press on Spider-Man/Red Sonja #1 at this time.

This post relates to: Wolverine, Namor, Matt Cherniss, Peter Johnson, Phil Briones, Leinil Francis Yu, Professor X, Venom

They've recently had a run-in in Wolverine over Nitro.  That's when we first saw Namor's Sleeper Cell soldiers.  I like where this mini's going.  Place your bets on who's going to win.

900 Americans are dead and S.H.I.E.L.D. is pointing the finger at Namor! In Sub-Mariner #3, Namor races against time to find the location of the rogue sleeper cell agents before they commit more heinous crimes in the name of Atlantis. But is he ready to battle Wolverine? Writers Matt Cherniss and Peter Johnson (Powerless) and up-and-coming artist Phil Briones (White Tiger) are making waves with the new limited series about Marvel’s first mutant and his constant struggle against the “weaklings” of the surface world. Also, this action-packed issue features magnificent cover art by Young Guns Reloaded star Leinil Francis Yu (New Avengers).

After plowing through Iron Man and his armada of S.H.I.E.L.D. submarines, Namor searches for his old ally, Charles Xavier, only to find the Canadian berserker ready and waiting for a scrap at the gates of the X-Mansion! Meanwhile, sinister figures are lurking in the shadows; the rogue Atlanteans make plans to murder their “traitor king,” but the vicious Venom might beat them to the punch if he develops a taste for seafood!

The conflict heats up in Sub-Mariner #3; will all of this tension lead to an inevitable war between Atlantis and America…and more importantly, will that war result in Namor’s death? One thing is certain, the monarch of the seas won’t go down without a fight – Imperius Rex!

This post relates to: Spider-Man, Venom, Mary Jane

Well, unless you were in a cave this weekend I assume you saw Spider-Man 3, because apparently everyone did and it made some huge bank. Here's the direct report from Marvel:

And on an even larger scale, Spider-Man 3 now has the biggest world-wide opening ever with roughly $375 million ($227 million spread across 107 countries and $148 million domestically).

It's funny that just a couple weeks ago everyone was amazed at the $275 million budget the film had. Chump change friends, it's already $100 million in the black on the first weekend. Anyone who thinks that the series will not continue after this cash cow installment is dellusional. SuperHeroHype reports on the state of affairs of Spider-Man 4:

Will the "Spider-Man" franchise become the next James Bond or Star Trek, two of the longest series of films in history? It might happen, as Sony Pictures chief executive Michael Lynton told BBC News that "everybody has every intention of making a fourth, a fifth and a sixth and on and on."

IGN has a bunch of video clips for Spider-Man 3, including Eddie Brock turning into Venom for the first time and a fight scene with Sandman.  It's hard to not watch them.  Man, I cannot wait.  I'm taking the day off.  Gotta see it in IMAX.

G-Man just sent this in after finding it on the Wizard boards. Looks like a spanish language website showbizcafe.com has a full scene from the new Spidey flick. Looks pretty awesome and genuine. No word on whether this was done on purpose or if the clip might be taken down any minute. Note that it is a pretty small and grainy clip so it's not the best way to view such an awesome scene.

Watch the leaked scene here.
