    Justice through Ven(geance)om

Wow. This was a fantastic issue. Just because the Spider Island event is over, doesn't mean the action has subsided. This issue is all about letting your inner-venom out. It is a nice filler piece where we finally get to see Venom in action - not necessarily as a hero, but certainly as a semi-guided vengeful vigilante. Gritty doesn't begin to describe this story. Violent? Yes. Shocking? Yes. Satisfying? Double, Yes.

This is exactly how I envisioned the Venom series to be - no holds barred action and vigilante violence. No room for excuses, feelings or even heroics, just down and dirty vengeance. I realize there may not be a place for that type of series in comics today, as heroics and "doing the right thing" are pillars of a good society - but it is nice to indulge in the suffering of a ruthless villain ever once in a while to remind ourselves that the bad guys don't take a day off.

The ending is the antithesis of the mood carried throughout the book, yet fits so well. This issue really showed the two very different sides of the same Flash Thompson coin - Ven(geance)om / F(railty)lash.

Review for Venom #9.Story: Hijacker is going around robbing banks and Flash is sent in to stop him.Thoughts: Remender uses the comparing monster angle with this issue to show us just how much stress Flash went trough Spider-Island. In this issue we have c list villain Hijacker (brought back in Remender's Punisher series) going around robbing banks and running over confused civilians that were transformed into spider people and when he runs over a mother and her son Flash just goes into a berserk...
