Seemed Good, Just Didn't Resonate 1
This is my first Venom book! Nothing like just jumping in to get a feel for the book, right? Rick Remender thinks so too! Venom starts right in the thick of things. The tarantula thing who's not Kaine (Spider-King, apparently) is terrorizing New York and Venom, Gravity, and Firestar (unconscious) are just the team to take him down and capture him! Why is Spider-King off by himself? Why doesn't Firestar do anything but lay unconscious throughout the whole fight? Who cares! It's fighting time!It w...

One thing I like about the past two Venom issues is that it gives us something that superhero comics usually don't (not that it's completely new or unprecedented) - a look into how personal problems can bleed into and affect your combat. I think this is somewhere common among the Spider-books, but it works so effectively here. He is very conflicted about how he feels about his father and this keep distracting him from the task at hand. The fact that other heroes don't feel this shows either t...

Synopsis: Venom joins the fun in Spider-Island. What's Good? I've been following Venom for a while, so I'm up to date with this series. Review for Venom #6. The Story: Flash captures the Spider King and things gets screwed up. The Good: We have Flash's dad dying as a subplot wich adds to the doom and gloom of the situation Flash is in the issue. The action scenes are very chaotic and all over the place because this seems to be something that appears in other Spider-Island books. Recommended!I have to admit, I have not read Spider Island yet, so I had to work a bit harder to wrap my brain around this issue. I am happy to say, it wasn't too much of a stretch, as this did not stray very far from the types of stories we have seen in the first five issues. In fact, it gave the story a much needed direction, as I felt it started to flail a bit, with so many semi-jointed stories each feeling like a bit of a filler.During this tie-in we do see that the troubles with Jack O'Lant...
