To Hell
Highly Recommended!
A giant protective bubble surrouds the city of Las Vegas - all hinging on a single magical amulet. Hokey? Meh, it serves its purpose... and it is not like you don't get into the hokey realm when you have guest appearances from Doctor Strange and Daimon Hellstrom! Who else would you call for a situation like this? I am pretty sure Bill Murray is busy nowadays. ;)
With the outside world protected (for now) the rest and vast majority of the issue focuses on the battle between the Circle of Four and servants of Blackheart - The Antitheses. The parings are pretty well done, but at times the art leaves something to be desired. It is not bad mind you, it just seems to change a lot from panel to panel for the same characters. I also felt that the illustration of Ichor in action looked far too close to Archangel - not that this book would overlap with an X-Title. ;)
The idea of The Antitheses is the inverted mirror image of the Circle of Four - being the culmination of their weaknesses and fears sounds like a great idea, but its implementation seems off. Something along the lines of the Final Horsemen may have suited this arc better - because imagining the inverted mirror image of the Red Hulk just doesn't seem to be a giant brain with a silver tongue. In fact, it appears that each of these Antitheses have more to do with inflicting mental anguish than anything else - so why spend so much time on what they look like? I guess they wanted the fear to factor in as well, because they do look awful creepy.
We are left with several cliffhangers, least of which is poor Johnny Blaze is still tasked with driving in circles to keep the world from ending... I am just grateful that we are getting an issue per week this month - it really helps with those pesky cliffhangers! :)
