A mix of styles, a cosmic mess

It's interesting how some projects are born and this one is a great example of an opportunity presented by Joe Casey from Tom Brennan, who wished to use the amazing covers of Gabrielle Dell'otto, and asked Casey if he could write a story to use them and the fact is Casey already had a story - the story has weak and strong points, and I believe the latter is basically for recycling, reintroducing or even breaking new characters, symbolizing a fresh restart for Marvel, or at least showing some good options - the dynamics behind Miss America, the Ultimate Nullifyer, Beakie and Angel were great, very intense, amazingly captured by Nick Dragotta (one of the best new artists in the market), his style was a true match to the plot, and Brad Simpson's colors gave a special mark, a distinct air to the comic, it almost looked like an Image publishing, not Marvel's. Unfortunally the whole cosmic thing and how things aprubtely changed and moved so fast made this series a little confusing and poor developed in those aspects, if Casey had focused more on the urban street like characters and the whole secrecy/spyonage SHIELD stuff, mixing the Greatest Villains' concept with the new Masters of Evil, without the whole cosmic stuff, it would definitely be a better and concise story - Casey isn't one of my favorite writers, I believe he had this tendency of getting lost or even too tangled up in his own story, but he did a very good job in the characters development and pitched a great comic book, but the great feat is Dragotta's art and Simpson's colors.

Honestly that's the only way I can think to describe this comic. I'd give you a plot summary but I honestly don't quite no what's going on. I suppose a new Teen Brigade has come together for some purpose that's yet to be seen. An emo-hipster In-Betweener seems to be the key to some larger event. And we learn that Magneto's sexually conservative.   The Good  I really like this cover by Gabriele Dell'otto. It's nice mixture of Magneto's costume from the films and his his classic attire in the comi...

      Vengefully Confusing 0

THE GOODThe cover art. Honestly, the covers for this mini-series were the main reason I picked them up. The interior art is pretty good as well. I also liked the way panels were handled - many were standard, but others were unique, with less structure, yet visually appealing.THE BADThe confusing story line. I realize that it was all to setup the rest of the mini, but it was VERY confusing. The Red Skull Nazi stuff seemed out of place and I cannot find where it fits into the various plots. The pow...
