Plot Summary

The race is on to determine whether or not Velocity has what it takes to win the Pilot Season voting. Good issue but does it have what it takes to be #1?

Overview

Cyberforce's resident speedster, Velocity, finally gets her groove on in this one-shot brought to you by Joe Casey (Uncanny X-Men, Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes) and Kevin Maguire (Justice League, Superman/Batman)! How does a young heroine find love when she's the target of an all-new batch of super-villains?! Pure pop superheroics unlike anything Top Cow fans have ever experienced!

    One Shot

Another Pilot Season issue. I liked it. So far out of the four that I've read, I'd have to place it in third place. It was good but just not great. The story was good but wasn't...Earth shattering.

Comparing this to Cyblade, I guess the difference is there was closure to the story here. It's pretty much a self contained story. Some events were set in motion that could come back to offer more. Cyblade's story was a complete cliffhanger. Left me wanting to know what happens next.

The character of Velocity could be interesting but what does it come down to? She can run fast. We get to see a more human side to her. Like I said, that could also lead to some future stories. We see another side of Velocity and get to know her a little more. I just don't know if it's enough to carry on her own series.

Another question (which I suppose I should look into) is if this series continued, would Joe Casey and Kevin Maguire stay on? The creative quality of the comic was good. I just felt like they were holding back since this is basically a one-shot issue. I'd like to see them do more but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
