    Publisher »

Valiant Comics began as an imprint of Voyager Communications, established in 1989 in part by former Marvel editor-in-chief Jim Shooter. It was discontinued in 1996 after being bought out by Acclaim Entertainment. After Acclaim closed its doors in 2004, the publisher was revived as Valiant Entertainment and has been publishing new material since May 2012.

Poll What's your favorite comic from Valiant? (30 votes)

    Archer & Armstrong 0%
    Bloodshot 10%
    Harbinger 17%
    Harbinger Wars 0%
    Quantum & Woody 13%
    Shadowman 13%
    X-O Manowar 47%

Let us know your favorite and why.

I hope this thread will get new people to check out Valiant comic books while also maybe getting some recommendations for myself. I'm a newb to Valiant comics but a random buy of an X-O Manowar comic a few weeks ago still has me foaming at the mouth for more. I think if this thread can reach just a few people who didnt know these titles yet, and click out of curiosity, It could maybe even persuade them to give one of these books a chance. And if they do, I have little doubt they will feel as i do.

How did I not know about Valiant until recently? It is tragic as, though I've only got just a glimpse, they seem like a company that not only has a clear direction with these titles but also full of rich mythologies. Not to mention it offers something 'new' and fresh for someone so used to reading mostly just from the big 2.

Many people are already aware of Valiant. But, as I said, I hope this thread will help to provide some guidance for new fans. Maybe even for those unaware that these comics exist.

@soa: I'm looking to get into Harbinger, but when does harbinger Wars begin in the continuity of it? I plan on starting with Harbinger from ish 1, but when is good to start supplementing that book with Wars?

@smashbrawler: yeah I really like the premise for Bloodshot, this character who is basically exploited in the worst way by his controllers - implanted memories and fake lives programmed into his mind (each one used at the discretion of the mission) so to motivate him to kill. How can you not sympathize with someone like that ya know?

@flazam: yep just checked it out (ish 1) and it was great. I'll have to get the first trade for Shadowman to catch up.

Valiant is really killing it with this reboot, haven't come across an issue i didn't enjoyed yet.

@jonny_anonymous: yeah I really love the quality over quantity approach Valiant has. All their titles are solid. I even saw on a thread someone out up a few months ago about how Valiant, tough has far less titles than other comic companies (only 5 at the time), sells more copies per comic than any company besides DC and Marvel. That's just astounding.

Btw, I checked out Harbinger as yesterday ended a .99 sale. Just awesome. Loving these comics!

@extremis: I really can't decide. I've loved every single title. I started off reading X-O then Harbinger from there I've been reading them all. Even collecting the older volumes. I've read some Marvel and some DC but Valiant captured my heart and soul when it comes to comics. They are so great!

@cheesesticks: dude, good is a massive understatement.

Harbinger, in my opinion, is the best comic on the stands right now. Bloodshot's just brilliant and Shadowman is better than 90% of the stuff you get from the big 2. Plus Shadowman is cool as hell!

Yeah i've read the first 5 issue of each and Shadowman is definitely getting to the top with Harbinger (and War).

But I'd say the best superhero book out is Harbinger as its also my favorite.

No votes for Archer and Armstrong? Sad, since that series is awesome, and it's one of the two series I read (the other being Shadowman). Oh well, I voted for Shadowman because I'm a big horror guy and it's pretty much everything I could ask for in something horror-related. Just finished the second volume last night, and it was awesome. Excited for volume three (same with A&A).
