Unit 101101 is a robot from a planet known only as the Robot Planet, it's inhabitants have died out long ago. They supply fuel for half the galaxies freighters. But they also have the need for self-preservation, which is why they got a piece of the Gleambody in an attempt to create new shielding for themselves with the alien metal.
The piece gave him the power of the Silver Surfer and he soon joined the Skyriders, all having the same goal - to defeat the Uni-Lord.
His powers were stripped along with all the other Skyriders and they could only watch as the Silver Surfer himself succeeded in completing their mission.
