Uncanny X-Men #4 by djotaku on January 06, 2012

This issue had the feel of a one-shot and that was a great break from the non-stop action that's been going on in Uncanny X-Men since at least May of 2011. I thought it worked rather well as a sci-fi horror issue and that was also fun to see in an X-Men title. While I read X-Men for the near-soap operatic atmosphere, it is nice to have a change now and again. The story also explains where Mr Sinister got his powers, but that's almost an afterthought to the rest of the story. I enjoyed it so much...

The Good: At least the artwork was cool.The Bad: It just felt like a pointless issue. It answered a question that really didn't change the impact of the story or probably a question that no one really cared about. It just answered where Sinister got the ability to make a hive-mind. It didn't even have the X-men in it til the second half and it didn't do anything to progress the story either nor do I see much being built off this.Better than the previous?: No.Recommended: It can be passed on. Phalanx is back and it’s a been a while we’ve heard from Phalanx since, “Phalanx Covenant” story arc. We get to know the villain very well. There is explanation and origin to how this part of The Phalanx came about. The Phalanx does a great fight scene with The X-Men. Now this is how Gillen is suppose to write Uncanny X-Men. Now Gillen can say the first 3 issues were just as good as the 4th however between me and he knows that isn’t true. This issue I can say you get applause for this issue. I r...
