Amahl Farouk, the Shadow King arrives at a newspaper office with a flash drive containing video footage of Archangel killing soldiers from the previous issue, ready to expose the team to the world. The reporter Farouk entrusts with the information alerts his editor before running with the story, who immediately informs the paper's owner, none other than Warren Worthington.
As Archangel, Worthington quickly evades a counseling session with Psylocke and flies off to rendezvous with the editor... who later that night turns up dead, seemingly from Archangel's hand. Archangel then goes for the reporter but is stopped just in time by the rest of X-Force.
The team concludes that the only way to save Warren from his own dark side is to inquire from another former servant of Apocalypse... so they spring Dark Beast out of prison. The evil Dr. McCoy evaluates the situation and quickly proposes that the team accompany him back to his lab in the alternate "Age of Apocalypse" future where he can retrieve a "seed of life" to counteract the "seed of death" that is driving Warren mad.
