Now that's more like it.
If you read my last review, you probably know that while I liked the last issue, I still had some doubts with it. Mainly the two members I didn't like or had no idea existed. Well now that I've read a bit more about Fantomex and now know what he can do and how he acts, I like this book a lot more. Although I still don't like Angel...never have, probably never will. I just don't like the character, something about a pretty rich boy with wings and a split personality disorder doesn't appeal to me at all.
Deadpool is still fantastically written, and this book shows just how great of an inclusion he is on this team. He's the comical relief. In fact almost everyone shines at least once in this book. Every character has a moment where you just say...."Oh yeah, that's bad ass." Pretty much everyone on this team is fantastically written.
Also some pretty interesting stuff Rick Remender is doing with Apocalypse here, I wonder if this team has the guts to kill a child who isn't really evil yet. He's just being trained to be evil. It's that old, "Would you kill baby Hitler, knowing what he would become" scenario.
Also I'm not sure about this yet, but we also kind of get a death in this book. But who dies...well you'll have to read to find out.
The artwork was really good, but Wolverine and Deadpool's red eyes are still bugging me. I don't know why, it just does. I get that it's supposed to look scary and intimidating, and while that can work for a someone like Wolverine...with Deadpool it doesn't because Deadpool isn't supposed to be scary and intimidating, he's supposed to be comical and dangerous. Red Eyes just don't work for Deadpool.
Overall this was much more enjoyable then the last issue, and a great cliffhanger. I can't wait to see where this goes and as far as this team's first mission went, it could have gone better. Rick Remender and Jerome Opena are doing a great job and I hope they keep it up after this arc.
