Unnecessary Avengers
Is this the end of this story arc? Because if it is, the ending of the actual story was kind of weak. The hint of things from the future was interesting. But not interesting enough for me to continue.
Uncanny Avengers was the kick off book for Marvel Now. Everything that happened in AVX lead to this book. It was going to change the Marvel Universe. That is until the next event. Hey Ultron!
That didn't happen. You can blame John Cassaday for taking to long to finish the art, but it takes two to tango, and Rick Rememder is not on his 'A' game here.
That's not to say it's a bad book, but it is just middle of the road. Especially since most of the Marvel Now books have surpassed this in quality.
Red Skull has taken possession of Thor and is trying to hypnotize Captain America into joining him. To take America away from "the fat rednecks" (as Red Skull puts it) and bring back wholesome American values.
Red Skull would be the perfect Fox News anchor!
The heroes are able to break the mental bond, in a way that was out of nowhere, leading to the "final" showdown.
There were some parts I liked. I liked the reference to Days of Future Past, and I like how the Red Skull is always one step ahead of everyone.
While this story arc needed to end, it was rushed.
Since this is the end of this story arc, I think I'm done with this book. Again this isn't a bad read, but it very middle of the road. It is not worth $4 an issue. If the next story arc is as big as they are kind of hyping it, I'm sure it will spill over into other books.
You could do worse, but you could also do a lot better.
