Each week we take a look at a comic book collectible and see what it's like out of the package. When it comes to action figures, we don't usually get a lot of villains. The focus is usually placed on the superheroes. With all the Avengers figures already released, it's nice to see some of their villains get the Marvel Select treatment. This week, we're looking at Ultron.
Ultron is one of the Avengers deadliest enemies. The fact that he was created by one of their own makes it awkward whenever he shows up. For those that don't know his full story, Marvel Select makes sure that's not a problem by including a mini bio on the back.
We're still waiting for the Ultron War to happen in comics. We were teased about it in last year's POINT ONE issue but it was apparently pushed back to accomodate AVENGERS VS X-MEN. Last I heard, it's still going to happen next Spring or Summer.
How does Ultron look out of the package?== TEASER ==
His hip joints are a little weird but his foot/ankle joints are interesting. You can rotate his foot in ways you can't other figures. This allows you some variation when positioning him.
He also comes with a stand that's pretty cool. Many of the past ones have been just a background but Ultron's really reflects on who he is. He's able to defeat members of the Avengers and we get to see a couple fallen heroes lying at his feet.
I'm a little torn on his finish. It would have been nice for him to have a shinier surface. The problem with figures like that is they tend to tarnish or just look too cheap. He does look metallic here. Just a little dull. Metal sometimes has that appearance. Otherwise, he looks like he's ready to kick your other action figures' butts.
That's it for this week. Be sure to look for the next installment to find out what we'll be opening and looking at next.
