I had never read anything "Ultimate" until Ultimatum, and as such, I am enjoying the mass murder of beloved characters as if it were a "what if?" story. Since I have no real investment in the universe, I don't really care about what havoc is wreaked. So, yes, I am reading it (not any tie-ins though.)

I'm just reading the main storyline, but I enjoy sh!t blowing up... Loeb's writing is fun for me, yes I know it's not "good" but it's turn-your-brain off fun

Yeah, I got disinterested a long time ago. Now, Ultimatum is just another storyline I don't feel bad on simply reading online summaries on.

Loeb didn't kill him, Bendis did on Ultimate Spider-man tie-in. I heard that they are going to bring him back, because he is on the cover of ultimatum #4

As someone who is deeply invested in the Ultimate Universe...Loeb should be fired on the spot for what he's doing in Ultimatum. I can't think of a clumsier or more insulting way to reboot a universe, especially one that didn't need rebooting in the first place. What makes it even worse is that Loeb clearly has no idea what the Ultimate Universe is even about; he writes his characters like they're identical to their 616 counterparts, and kills them off with an incredibly callous and indifferent attitude. It's a slap in the face to fans who've been with this universe since the beginning.

I love it lol. I never really cared about the Ultimate U to start with. Just seemed like an Elseworlds storyline. So seeing some of the great names in the Marvel U die, but not really since its not the 616 is pretty cool in my opinion. I just wish there weren't these long delays between issues.

And for people who've been reading about characters for years only to have Loeb come in and kill off 20 of them within a month or two without any real drama or reason for the deaths its an insult.

it could work.

It's annoying because some of my favourite story arcs were by Jeph Loeb, I really liked his work but it took a definite and sharp change in direction after his son died.

Well things have gone a bit downhill for Marvel imo - the two guys they get to work on major titles are Loeb and Bendis. Loeb is so morbid and random now. Bendis is like you honestly have to read 50 issues for him to halfway tell a story. I'm not liking either model right now.

Well I like that there's a sense of continuity on all those 50 issues soI don't have a problem with Bendis but Loeb.....

This is my story too except I read the first of all the series except for Fantastic Four and stopped after the dialog in Spider-Man got on my nerve. It's fun seeing a "What If... Magneto went ape $#!# crazy!".

ummm so I have a question, if you read Ultimatum #4 it amidst all the killing, I could have sword magneto slices Valkeries neck in one panel, and then on the next page shes fine, MAYBE i'm crazy but check it out, he takes her sword slices, there is a blood splater or at least what appears to be, then nothing.
