The team at one point distanced themselves from the US government to deal with threats independently but have recently joined back up with S.H.I.E.L.D. Now they serve as the ultimate team to fight any and all disturbances in the Marvel Universe.

    I read Ultimates 3, and i've been reading New Ultimates, and i've really enjoyed it. however, i've been hearing a lot of negativity regarding both, so i'm wondering, what did y'all think? good, bad, in between?

    Ultimates 3 was horrid, New Ultimates is much better

    the ultimate universe died years ago, ultimates 3 was just the harbinger of the apocolypse.

    The New Ultimates story is pretty good. Just read the 1st 4 issues.

    yeah i've read the first three issues of new ultimates, and i'm going to pick up the fourth this week, i've really liked the story so far, especially the internal monologues. i think they really give a deeper insight on the characters. i have the first volume of ultimate avengers in trade, and thought it was great, but i haven't read any of 2 or 3, though i have been reading the negative reviews about 3
