Ultimate Thor #4
Hickman wraps up the Ultimate Thor “origin” mini-series by bringing it full circle. We see the scenes that were in Ultimates #1, where Thor joins the team by bringing the thunder to the Hulk.
It’s a nice way to bring this whole time traveling series together. We see alot of threads laid out. And we get the answer to the question, why was Donald Blake only shown from behind all the time?
The answer to that question is a nice twist that Hickman brings to this. Donald Blake has always been the human that Thor shared a body with. But in the Ultimate Universe Blake is not, but he’s still directly connected to Thor. And it provides future story points that could be built upon.
Hickman also brings Loki back to this world and sets up the conflict between the brothers differently. This is not the Thor we’re used to. This was a wonderful story and help define the character of Ultimate Thor better. It’s too bad that the current Ultimates book is so bad and doesn’t seem to mesh well with what Hickman has set up.
That’s a shame as Hickman’s set up a nice little mythos for Thor to operate in and out of. I would have liked to have seen what Hickman could have done with the Ultimates but the Ultimate universe is such a mess right now it’s hard to understand whats going on.
Hope you all liked it.
