Let there be lightning!
What can I say other than that I loved this issue? I’m a big fan of Ultimate Thor and the whole ultimate Asgard they are showing us. The comic plays with flashbacks but it never really gets confusing, you can see things more clearly as it explains things from the first issue. Thor is believed to have gone mad but is it really madness or is he just remembering things? There are some fun cameo’s in this comic like Professor Braddock ( Captain Britain) and (ironically) Doctor Blake, regular Thor’s alter ego, who is treating Thor.
The flashback takes us for a closer look in Thor’s history. And the interesting relationship between the three brothers Loki, Balder and Thor. They squabble and fight like any other siblings and if you have any brothers or sisters yourself I’m sure you’ll recognize some of it. There’s one big revelation of Odin that surprised me a little, and this had to do with the power that makes up Asgard, but I’ll let you find that out for yourself.
So let’s look at the pro’s and con’s of this issue:
Pro’s
- The artwork is simply gorgeous and really fits with the story.
- It explains more of the first issue, the big battle and how it came to be.
- Some pretty big revelations about both Odin and Loki
- The relationship between Thor and his father and between his brothers are highlighted in this issue.
So all in all, if you love Ultimate Thor and Ultimate Asgard, this is the issue for you. It’s as simple as that!
