Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man 160 Review
A heroic last stand, Peter Parker, severely wounded and exhausted, holds his own against the crazed Green Goblin. In what has to be one of Bendis' greatest works, we see our hero take a triumphant last stand in front of the Parker household.
This issue, along with the rest of the Death of Spider-Man story line is one of Bendis' greatest works. He delivers an action packed story that really delivers. We see our hero, battered and bruised take on the Green Goblin, who wants nothing more than to see Parker die. And even after all of this, Parker still manages to get a few jabs in, like saying how Norman's hair won't magically come into style.
The story is really captivating and it is able to draw in the reader right away and keep them wanting more. Not only that, but Bendis also manages to get the reader emotionally invested as we see our beloved hero about to die. It's truly a great story, offering the tale of one kid, who saves his family and friends and gets one last kiss with Mary Jane. Reading this comic it really had me emotional, something all writers should strive for. Just like many people, I will miss Peter Parker. He was a great character and to many people, including myself, the one and only Spider-Man. It's a tale of victory and woe, the last stand, the final battle, and it is told so greatly that no Spider-Man fan should miss out on.
