During the Secret Wars conference at Midtown comics, it was revealed what is going to happen to Marvel's Ultimate Universe. Yesterday, Brian Michael Bendis revealed that The End of the Ultimate universe is coming and fans got a bit worried, but today editor-in-chief Axel Alonso stated that the Ultimate universe and the 616 universe are mashing together.

Some of the heroes you know and love will be around and others will not. This is going to lead into SECRET WARS. The combining of these two worlds will take place in SECRET WARS #1 as a part of the larger Battleworld.

Tom Brevoort chimed in and jokingly said "I've ruined SECRET WARS #1 for all of you!"

The outcome of SECRET WARS will lead into the All-New Marvel, which will be what is left after SECRET WARS. It hasn't been stated, but the chances of the Ultimate universe version of Spider-Man, Miles Morales, will be around after all of this, but there will be a few who we will never see again.

I secretly wanted the universes to merge together, anyway. So i'm kinda okay with this.

There's no way Miles Morales is going anywhere, i'm sure he'll make the jump.

I haven't been that into the Ultimate Universe since Ultimatum, honestly. I did like a few of the characters there, though, so I hope to see them make the transition over.

Miles is the only good thing from that universe.

No please, I don´t want Miles Morales to be in the 616 universe, I have nothing against him, but there are already too much Spider-Men.

Wow. So there will be no more Marvel Universe/Multiverse and the final incursion is 616 and 1610 and they don't succeed in stopping it. Kinda ruins the end of Time Runs Out. Only Battleworld and then whatever comes from the outcome of that. Really interested to see how long Battleworld is the only planet that exists with all these different pieces of earth from the various storylines. Also want to know what happens with stand alone series like Black Widow and Punisher. Are they stopping them or do they keep going since they are happening 8 months in the past before Time Runs Out.

Hopefully they kill of fake-Nick Fury and just replace him with the real Ultimate Nick Fury.

The Original Sins Avengers 33 now makes more sense. All of the other Time Runs out issues make sense now. The final issue of HickMan's Avengers is already spoiled but really interested to see what comes out of Battle World.

Honestly this is a pretty good way to get me to drop Marvel. I have no interest of whatsoever in seeing a merging of the 616 with any of the other universes. I will stick out through Secret Wars, but I'm probably going to be done after it.

Welp, it was nice conversing with all of you over the years, but this is officially where I get off.

I haven't followed the Ultimate universe in a while, but I intended to go back and catch up. I guess this makes it easier, since it won't continue to build up further.:)

Visually the Cinematic Universe borrowed some styles that were closer to the Ultimates line, so maybe this also will bring things more in line with the movies for the comic curious movie fans. Maybe this will be more like the post-Crisis merge of DC worlds?

At this point, are there many characters that are actually unique to the Ultimate line besides Miles Morales? I know there are some dramatically different versions of the same characters.

I don't really have an opinion on this one way or the other.

I want the Ultimate X-Men to show up just so a good writer can have them meet the different factions of X-Men. I can already see the 1610 mutants being ashamed of the 616 mutants at how petty they are with each other right now.

I was thinking about that too however I haven't been following much of the cosmic side since Bendis took over GOTG. I have only been reading Guardians 3000. My guess is that the end of Secret Wars will result in a new universe outside of Earth/ Battleworld. I do think it would be interesting to keep this amalgamated planet for a while. There are so many stories that can be told out of that although it will all seem like one giant event.

I think it would be funny if Galactus survives and the whole run is nothing but the planet trying to repel him over and over again as Battleworld is the only planet for him to consume.

I hope they will find a new place for them, because the 1610 universe is so much different, and they might not have the same level of grittiness, destruction or lethalness of the stories. On the other hand, they might find place for the ultimate x-men and others in more series than just one (currently non-existant) series. I still wait for ultimate GotG or Great Lakes Whatever.

So this is pretty anticlinactic. They're dumping their no longer viable Ultimate line and saving the handful of characters that people would actually care about (though aside from the Spider cast, I really can't see who that would be). Hardly seems worth a year of buildup and all this fanfare.

@jaken7: I didn't watch the q & a. I went based off this article which mentions Bendis in the beginning and no mention of Hickman at all. Now that I know Hickman is writing it I'm happy. Calm down.

@lagozzino: They're merging the two universes. They're not just salvaging Ultimate. 616 is as dead as Ultimate is, and there will be a new universe in its place. This article is a little skimpy on the details for now, so I'd suggest checking out a liveblog of the announcement if you care.

Alonso also sneaked in the hint that they'd be reviving Gwen Stacy (the dead one from 616, not Spider-Gwen).

It won't happen, but if you want to get technical its true, now that SW is back in Marvel multiverse and that multiverse is collapsing into battleworld......

Come on Ultraverse I'm pulling for you to come out on top after this.

@soa: I agree, the revelation that Nick Fury had a son who happen to look exactly like Sam Jackson was pretty dumb. If they wanted to bring in that Nick Fury a better idea would have been to say "Nick Fury" is a code name given to each new director of SHIELD, and that a new guy (who happen to look like Jackson Fury) was taking over the role.
