If you have made the decision to hold off or not read Ultimate Spider Man; you defenitly are missing out. To be honest I have not been the biggest fan of the ultimate universe...After the "Earth Shattering" Ultimatum, that has begun to change. while I have not been much into the Ultimate Universe to determine whether or not this is an entirely different direction, I can say titles such as this one and Ultimate Avengers do not disappoint. One thing that I am totally digging from this comic is the fact that Mysterio is being depicted as a total Bad@$%. Plus the dude in the cloak is interesting as well. if you are expecting a n awesome brawl like i was after reading about the issue on Marvel's website, you might not get what you thought... however that was not the only thing that made this issue great, the dialogue too between the main cast was well done, especially when the web head took on a certain gray behemoth, i couldn't help but smile at some of the comments.

Last issue, Spider-man won round one vs. Mysterio but he didn't know that Mysterio was plotting to repay the webslinger for ruining his bank robbery pay off. How can he? The life of teenage Peter Parker is full of complexity. The Human Torch is Pete's new addition to the family. Mary Jane still pines away for Pete. Pete still struggles to find time for all the things going on in his life that makes it easier for Mysterio to fool Pete.

There's also a new "hood" wandering the streets of Queens.

Bendis is at his best bringing to life the civilian perspective of a super hero. In many ways the life of Peter Parker is more interesting (by way of DeGrassi episode) than his life as spider-man. The art captures that feeling of Archie/Anime style and this feeling of kids but not overshadowing the issues involved. Pete's life is going to be a whole lot more complicated provided he can survive Mysterio.

Speaking of Mysterio, after all that effort taking out the Kingpin, you'd think he'd go after Fisk's money and have some underlings to help him rather than robbing a bank by himself. Also why reveal yourself to the news? Alerting people to your existence doesn't create any um, mystique?

Rating: Buy it. It's teenage high adventure.

One note to Mr. Bendis: Queens is a part of New York City but living in the city is synonymous with living in Manhattan.

the 4th issue in this this series starts off with mj being saved by the mysterious shroud. who is this person? i guess we will have to wait and see. the next part of this issue deals with peter and may and gwen and johhny storm discussing his moving in(johnny). pretty interesting. and next we see peter and mj talking in school. she tells peter she was saved by another super hero and she also tells him she wished she had never broke up with him. then peter hears that the hulk is causing havok in the city. uh oh. spidey gets on the scene and battles the hulk for awhile and then notices something strange about the hulk. i wont say. i dont wanna spoil it. then there are some explosions and then there is... mysterio. pretty decent issue. id advise for you to pick it up. the writing is great but im still not to sure about the art.
