    Rod Serling began his career in broadcasting writing bogus testimonials for products. When tasked with writing them for some medical quackery, he had enough and moved to New York City to try to create more meaningful programming. He soon created several award winning teleplays such as Requiem for a Heavyweight, which earned him critical acclaim and Emmy Awards.
