The Fangs Of New York! last edited by g33ky monk3y on 01/17/22 11:48AM View full history

A four-issue hard boiled noir crime thriller with girls, guns, fangs and aliens.

New York, 1929. The height of prohibition. The cops turn a blind eye while the mobs run the city, dealing in guns, girls and illegal liquor. But the arrival of the mysterious Dragonmir Family from Eastern Europe with more of a taste for blood then booze co-incides with a series of brutal attacks on the gangsters themselves. As the gangs fall before the fangs, only handful of mobsters survive. But an unlikely alliance formed between tough guy Eddie Falco and a character from a LONG way from New York City – a long way from Earth in fact - offers the humans a glimmer of hope. As the strong willed young reporter Susie Dale from the Gotham Herald tries to survive in the middle of the maelstrom, and an ancient prophecy unfolds, no one can guess who’s going to win the battle for this particular slice of Turf.

This issue was reprinted in Mark Millar's CLiNT #1.

Turf War for best Vamp comic just got more messy 0

If Vertigo's American Vampire is your thing, keep Turf on your radar.  Primarily set in a similar era, with a very classic crime style, this series has similar bite to American Vampire. The major difference is this one has Aliens in it, which worries me a little and American Vampire does not have aliens. If Aliens are your thing, then give Turf the edge. Like American Vampire there is a "turf" war.  In American Vampire, it is classic Vampires Vs. Skinner Sweet.  In Turf it is clear the Vampire...

This review was first published on Tom_1994's blog at http://tom-bloggs.tumblr.com   I've scanned the web and found hardly any reviews surrounding Turf, maybe the odd one, but nothing like Batman and Robin! Secondly,  it's Jonathan Ross's first time writing a comic book and Tommy Lee Edward on art duties - which, to me at least, is already interesting and we've not even got to the story's plot!! Thirdly (is that even a word?), the plot is almost perfect for me. I think they got two out of three...
