Triplicate Girl
Triplicate Girl is a comic book character that first appeared in Action Comics #276Able to split into three people. Member of the Legion of Super-Heroes, a super group based in the 30th and 31st centuries of the DC Universe.
HISTORY
Pre- Zero Hour
Luornu Durgo comes from the planet of Cargg, where the natives of that planet can split into three identical forms. Triplicate Girl, as she was known, was the first to join the Legion after the three founders: Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad and Cosmic Boy. Triplicate Girl fell prey to doom one day after her teammate, Brainiac 5, created Computo. Computo was a robot that believed all living things were weak and should be eliminated. Computo was able to kill one of Triplicate Girl's forms before being defeated. From then on, Triplicate Girl became known as Duo Damsel, with the ability to split into two forms.
Duo Damsel worked for some time with the Legion of Super-Heroes, eventually falling in love with her teammate Bouncing Boy. After they wed, both Legionnaires went on reserve status, being called only for emergencies. After some time, Duo Damsel and her husband became teachers and ran the Legion Academy, a school designed to train prospective Legion of Super-Hero members. On a particular adventure, Duo Damsel, Bouncing Boy, and some other super-heroes were called in to form a new Legion of Substitute Heroes, after the original disbanded.
Duo Damsel was part of a conspiracy with other Legion of Super-Heroes members, including Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5 and Mon-El, in killing the Legion foe known as the Time Trapper. In the ensuing battle, Duo Damsel found herself losing her only duplicate. She went on for some time as a solo person. She, along with her whole reality, was believed lost in the events of Zero Hour
Post-Zero Hour
After the events of Zero Hour, a new version of the Legion of Super-Heroes was formed. Luornu Durgo went by the code-name Triad. Luornu is a native of Cargg, a planet where everyone can split into three identical duplicates, with identical personalities. However, Luornu Durgo was born different, with each aspect of her clones exhibiting different personalities. She was abandoned by her father and her mother was an alcoholic. She found herself working for R.J. Brande, the financial backer of the Legion of Super-Heroes. After Brande was saved from an attempted robbery from three super-powered people, he decided to create a Legion and asked Luorno to track each of those three super-powered people. After she did, she became the first member to be admitted after the original three.
Current History: Threeboot
Triplicate Girl has shown a great deal of loyalty to the Legion's first leader, Cosmic Boy. She has gone on dates with various Legionnaires, including Sun Boy, Element Lad, and Ultra Boy, simply to divine information from them.
The Lightning Saga and further events...
Events involving the Justice League Of America and the Justice Society Of America reintroduced the original Legion Of Super-Heroes. A squadron of Legionnaires were in the present time and had arrived to undertake a mission: revive someone very important to them. One of Triplicate Girl's two remaining forms had then returned to the 21st Century to join Karate Kid on another mission. She couldn't duplicate into other forms, so she called herself Una. When she died, her single remaining body left in the 31st century somehow gained the ability to split into any number of bodies, and thus changed her name into Duplicate Damsel. She and her husband Bouncing Boy joined the battle against The Legion of Super-Villains during Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds, having just returned from their third honeymoon at the backbeaches of Ventura.
Powers
Triplicate Girl has the power to separate herself into three identical bodies. When she assimilates into one body, Triplicate Girl gains the knowledge of each clone. Triplicate Girl's powers lent itself to her joining the Legion Espionage Squad, a special squad of the Legion that took mission that had to be covert. As of Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds, this version of Triplicate GIrl/Duo Damsel gained the ability to split into numerous clones, renaming herself Duplicate Damsel.
As Triad, she has exhibited a knowledge of the skill called Trijitsu, a special form of martial arts adapted by the Carggites to take full advantage of three forms fighting simultaneously.
The Earth-Prime version of Triplicate Girl is actually a clone of the original Luornu Durgo, who lives on the planet of Cargg. She has the ability to assimilate with her other clones and gain their knowledge, but her original bodies refused to assimilate with her due to the trio's time in the Legion making the three so different.
Television
Triplicate Girl appears as a regular character in the Legion of Super-Heroes animated series. She is voiced by actress Kari Wahlgren. Unlike the comic book version (who has only ever had brown hair), the animated Triplicate Girl has hair that is three different colors -- orange, purple, and white -- and when she triplicates, each separate body has one of the three hair colors, with a matching single-color costume. The separate bodies have slightly different character quirks; for example, the white third seems to have a more flirty personality than the other two.| Super Name: | Triplicate Girl |
