Interview: Ivan Reis Talks Trinity War and JUSTICE LEAGUE

Posted by G-Man (38470 posts) - - Show Bio

Next week Trinity War begins in the pages of JUSTICE LEAGUE #22. Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis are kicking off the action that will continue in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA and JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK.

Yesterday we talked to Doug Mahnke about the second chapter in JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA #6. Let's hear what Ivan Reis has to say about this crazy story coming up.

Comic Vine: How crazy do things get in JUSTICE LEAGUE #22

Ivan Reis: #22 ends with a bombastic scene! Something crazy and wild… but you have to read it for yourself! Readers will be crazy to know how everything ends in fact!

CV: Did you have to coordinate with other artists, like Doug Mahnke, to pick up where your issue leaves off?

IR: We exchanged tips and pages as they were being done. This way everyone knows where the other is in the story. It’s fantastic to be able to follow Doug’s work.

CV: Do we see any characters for the first time in the New 52?

CV: Do things get even crazier in JUSTICE LEAGUE #23?

IR: I’m currently working on #23, and the only thing I can say is that it is soooooooo DAMN COOL! There will be so many important moments going on!

CV: September is Villains Month but will you be back for issue #24?

IR: HELLZYEAH! We’re all back! Stay tuned! ;)

Make sure you pick up JUSTICE LEAGUE #22, on sale July 10.

Wow! Can't wait for this...

Ahh man I really want to read all the titles of trinity war but at the same time I don't want my wallet to fall out with me.

Batman looks weird

#10 Posted by Grey56 (796 posts) - - Show Bio

Unlike any Marvel event of late, I am genuinely eager to see where they take this; Pandora, The Phantom Stranger & Spectre have important roles to play out in the context of how the New 52 was reconciled with the previous iteration.

I hope they all get Shazamed, hard.

Every time I get more details about the Trinity War it gets more complex.

#15 Posted by vaso_petrov (5 posts) - - Show Bio

i hope its great cuz this is DC's chance to really form this new world which till now (atleast for me) was just a shell of the pre-New 52

Is that Dr Light standing between Aquaman and Zatana? So is he a good guy now?

edit: Nevermind thats just Flash's after image.

Looks like Superman still has the edge over Shazam even with the more magical link to his powers. Reis' artwork really is gorgeous indeed.

Those pages look fantastic, can't wait to read it

I love Ivan Reis! I'm obsessed with his work

#23 Edited by Saren (26206 posts) - - Show Bio

Ha! Superman didn't get one-shotted in an issue of Justice League again. I'm interested already.

Look at J'onn standing there with folded arms like a boss.

I thought this came out tomorrow? has it been put back a week?

#25 Posted by johnqestion (269 posts) - - Show Bio

Damn, that is some fine pencils! And thank you, Johns, for once we don't see Kal get jobbed. Enough with punching the guy all the time! Great to see him get to show some power...though I guess the JLA are pissed. pfft.

Hope Batman kicks ass.

Who else is tired of seeing Shazam job for Superman? That's all DC uses him for--propping up Superman since the mid-1980s. -_-

Let's let Shazam and Cyborg shine this time round.

Hope Batman kicks ass.

I doubt it.

I haven't been reading any of the JL titles but this one looks good.

#33 Posted by matchesmalone21 (9689 posts) - - Show Bio

@blkson: Yes it is Doctor Light there, but he's tanding between Streve Trevor and Martian Manhunter. Doctor Light isn't a villain (Yet),he works for A.R.G.U.S. as scientific advisor and received his powers accidentally in Justice League of America 5

#34 Posted by Vaeternus (9558 posts) - - Show Bio

Nice, cant wait.

#35 Posted by xAnimosity (189 posts) - - Show Bio

They need to bring Hal back into the JL!

#36 Posted by SmashBrawler (6032 posts) - - Show Bio

Ivan Reis should draw everything ever.

#37 Posted by Paragon_Sean (70 posts) - - Show Bio

I'm psyched for this! I hope this who story turns out well. By the way, what books does it take place in? I know JL, JLA, and JLD are involved, but are there any others?

#38 Posted by Cavemold (1817 posts) - - Show Bio

Lets hope dr.light does go infinity crisis on us now

#39 Edited by RedheadedAtrocitus (6959 posts) - - Show Bio

Dr. Light? Awesomeness! This event is getting rosier and rosier by the minute for me :)

#40 Posted by TheFirstLantern (1510 posts) - - Show Bio

@paragon_sean: The story ties in with Constantine and another title I cannot recall but the main thing is in the three Justice League Titles.

#41 Posted by ajshadowhawk (167 posts) - - Show Bio

@paragon_sean: Justice League, Justice League of America and Justice League Dark contain the main storyline in their July and August issues. This month's issue of Constantine will be a tie-in as well. They are also releasing three special issues of Trinity of Sin: Pandora for the event, two of which will ship this month. Next month's issue of Phantom Stranger will be another tie-in.

Here's the checklist:

#42 Edited by Paragon_Sean (70 posts) - - Show Bio

@thefirstlantern: Alright, thank you. The other title is probably the new Pandora one that I just read about.

@the_greatest_green_lantern: I'm sure Shazam will have his fair share of good hits. If it makes you feel better, MM will probz kick Supes ass.
