Ever since the 2012 New 52 Free Comic Book Day issue, we've been wondering what Trinity War would be about and when we'd actually get to read it. Some information has finally been revealed.

Because of the word 'trinity,' there's a lot of things in threes involved. The first thought many had was it would involve DC' Trinity of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. The FCBD issue also introduced the idea of the Trinity of Sin consisting of Pandora, Phantom Stranger and the Question. Another trio involved will be three different teams - the Justice League, the Justice League of America and Justice League Dark.

The crossover story will run through six issues the three Justice League titles in July and August. It all begins in JUSTICE LEAGUE #22 written by Geoff Johns with art by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado. JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA will be co-written by Johns and Jeff Lemire with art by Doug Mahnke (which Mahnke did hint in our video interview that he'd be working with Johns again). JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK will be written by Lemire as well.

Geoff Johns told USA Today the following:

"We really want to find and carve out the Justice League corner of the DC Universe. It is a universe all itself with these three teams, and it feels big enough to be worthy of a Justice League story.

It's going to be really interesting when these characters do come together, because some of them haven't met, some of them have, and what happens and unfolds in this is going to force them to choose sides."

There will be plenty of tension as we'll see more on the relationship between Superman and Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor's reaction as well as some conflict between Constantine and Zatanna. Of course the involvement of the Trinity of Sin will also complicate things. Pandora was on hand for the creation of this DC Universe at the end of Flashpoint and we know there's something going on with her box she liberated in the FCBD issue. Shazam will also finally meet up with the others and Johns mentions while he won't have an allegiance to anybody, he will "come into conflict with Superman in a very big way."

Readers shouldn't simply dismiss this as a two month event in the three titles. Johns also teased that this will affect the DCU.

"It's not going to end wrapped up in a bow. Something really, really major happens that kicks off some pretty crazy stuff at the end of August."

We'll have to wait for July for the action to begin.

When it comes to events like these, DC sure knows how to handle them unlike Marvel.

Whilst I'm not too keen on big events given that they're difficult to execute right, this one has been planned for in a year's worth of titles so it has some build up unlike most Marvel events of the past half a decade. Nonetheless, the whole hero vs hero thing is getting old suffice to say and something new is needed in its place. Still it'll give the opportunity for the DC universe's characters to meet and connect with each other on panel if only for a slug fest.

Turning the question into some sort of angel/demon thing is still one of the dumbest moves of the DCnU. They gave up Renee Montoya Question for this? I could at least understand going back to Vic, but this?

Having a supernatural Question doesn't bother me. he can stil handle his own in a fight. He questions everything (conspiracy theorist like in JLU perhaps)...

But having him always talk using question like Phantom Stranger will really be a pain in the ass...

I look forward to reading this in trade. I think this is the first time a dark book has really crossed over with any of the main DCU books. I wonder if Lemire is going to be co-writing JLA from here on out, or if it's just for this event? I'd guess the latter.

I am gonna cry when the new 52 occurred it thought we would never witness the trinity war again and it is very unlikely for it to pit all of the leagues against each other as you know who is gonna win.

If there is one thing DC does right, it is crossover events. They blow Marvel out of the water when they do these...So here's hoping the first big one in the New 52 pays off...

I'm really looking forward to this story. Sounds cool, looks cool, and it would be great to see the three Justice League team go at each other. The second I heard about the news I was very excited. I've been wondering, are they going to do Trinity War in a mini-series and have the team books tie-in like they did with Blackest Night having the main story happen in the mini-series and having other books tie-in or have it go on in the ongoing like they have been doing with the crossover stories like Night of the Owls, Rise of the Third Army, and H'el on Earth.

Seems odd for DC to refer to this as "an "action mystery" that will bring all three Justice League teams into conflict." then. Especially as I'm pretty sure they've never once referred to themselves as the Justice League Dark.

I dropped justice league 17 for money reasons and cause it wasn't one of my favorites. But I still want to learn about awW and Supes, and whatever happened to shazam....
