With both THE PHANTOM STRANGER and PANDORA ending in August, fans of these two members of the Trinity of Sin have been wondering what the future holds for these characters. On top of that, the third member of the Trinity never got a chance to shine: The Question. Newsarama revealed today, in an interview with writer J.M. DeMatteis, that there is a future for these characters and it's their own on-going series, debuting in October.

This new series, with art from Yvel Guichet, will focus on the Trinity, made up of Phantom Stranger, Pandora, and The Question, coming together to stop a cosmic force that wants to bring the world into a Dark Age. Although these characters hate each other, they are forced to work together.

The first, six issue, arc for TRINITY OF SIN wraps up in March, which is when many other story lines from other books are also ending, which many speculate will be the start to the next DC event. However, TRINITY OF SIN is a jumping-on point because DeMatteis stated that this new series will be new reader friendly.

While fans of PHANTOM STRANGER and PANDORA may be disappointed with the series ending, their stories aren't finished yet. Sure, many want them to continue on and for The Question to have his own on-going as well, but this is better than nothing.

The interesting thing about this book is that these three characters are all loners, so putting them onto the same team is going to cause some friction, especially when these characters all hate each other. However, aside from their birth as these characters, there is a lot of history between them. For example, The Question stabbed The Phantom Stranger, during an early story line in PHANTOM STRANGER.

What will be really interesting to see is how Pandora will play into all of this because she, out of all these characters, has gone through the most changes in the aftermath of Forever Evil: Blight. Writer Ray Fawkes discussed this with Comic Vine at the end of June.

Awesome! J.M DeMattis on Phantom Stranger was amazing! I dropped it because of the Blight stuff and never caught back up but I loved the book. Ive also wanted to read more about the new Question so this book is a must read for me! October is shaping up to be a HUGE month for DC!

I will be reading this, but only because of J. M. DeMattis writing Phantom Stranger. The Question doesn't belong in this group and his appareances so far haven't marked him as anything but an unrepentant monster (according to the last of the Wizards). As for Pandora... I have been reading her book, but it just hasn't really grabbed me and I would have stopped reading if it hadn't been for the Blight Mandate.

Dematteis is a pretty interesting writer. Imaginative and thoughtful. Some of his most unique comics included Moonshadow, Kraven's Last Hunt, and I liked his run on the original Defenders volume. Other stuff is more standard.

Ever since I found out that Phantom Stranger and Pandora got cancelled, I have been Saying that they should just do a Trinity of Sin book and now they are which is awesome for the Question

I did like DeMatteis' Phantom Stranger run and bringing all these new Trinity of Sin trio under one title makes the most sense. Maybe it'd be better if each have their own titles but it's better than nothing.

It's the year of the fedora and I love it

Just like with the Outlaws, IMO 3 people do not constitute a "team". Just saying, i nitpick, but it does bother me.

Second, why is Pandora promenient in the center? Is she the leader? The Question should be , because he has the most mainstream use. DC should have even added some of Watchmen's Rocharch into this New52 version of the question, might bring in some more outside fans of the movie.

Third, Pandora doesnt match the other two. She should be wearing a fedora & trenchcoat as a noir-y mystery-man to match the other two better.

@wardishy: I really don't know what his track record is like. But The Phantom Stranger series was the first and only thing I read of his so far and I enjoyed every issue that came out. I never read anything about Phantom Stranger before his series and it really made me enjoy the character. I guess the series didn't last was he because he's not "Batman". -____- People these days just want to buy Batman and not care about non-popular characters. Oh well, I'm they are giving these characters another shot. I'm hoping Pandora will be a likable character this time because her series had constant writer changes so we couldn't understand her character fully and to great to finally see The Question flesh out in the New 52 because he didn't have much time so far. So, I'm looking forward to it. I'm pretty sure you can trust him The Question.

Interesting, I guess this is a good move in covering the entire Trinity. Hopefully, the storyline concerning these characters becomes cohesive. Also, hope they go for some worldbuilding.

I agree 3 people shouldn't make up a team, as the outsiders were always 5+. this isn't a team but the trinity of sin.

she could be the leader but this isn't a team as The Question kinda hates Phantom. Phantom doesn't want Pandora to open her box again and she seems determined to do so. I don't think its an adventure book but more of a drama filled with action..and the Question isn't who he was pre-52. He's sort of Phantom Stranger/Specter hybrid.

This makes sense. I'd like another dark title if at all possible. Perhaps something with Jason Blood/Etrigan...

I guess they want The Question to remain a mystery.

I hate to type this, but I'd be surprised if this breaks 12 issues. This looks like one of the countless DC titles that they'd cancel in a minute.

the question is awesome. I wish he could just have a dark, twisted, vigilante, detective, solo book like Batman. He was really cool in Justice league the Animated series

This seems like a much better plan than giving them (Phantom Stranger and Pandora anyway) their own solo-series. I respect that they gave those characters a shot, but I just don't think they were revered or compelling enough to sustain their books all on their own.

The biggest problem I had with these comics is that they did too much tie ins with each other and other series and it made me drop them (and it made me miss a great fight with Pandora and Savage). This was so needed.

Oh look DC is still trying to make us think The Question is a cosmic character like Phantom Stranger.

Im alittle bummed that pandora ended,I liked the direction she was going,now pahnatom stranger..Im still skeptical of him,although the artist and writer did well,I just wasnt feeling the origin of him..too boring in my opinion because it just doesn't click in my head,especially since Im a fan of DC magic department

This was supposed to be the book from the beginning. Not dividing this characters going solo although Phantom Stranger had an awesome book.
