Origin
The Trenchcoat Brigade consisted of the supernatural detectives, John Constantine and Doctor Occult, Mister E and the mysterious Phantom Stranger. The group was named by John Constantine initially as a joke, but stuck due to their familiar attire and being rarely seen without them on.
Following the destiny of Tim Hunter, the group formed in order to introduce him to the world of magic. Teaching him a wide variety of magical skills, they also ensured he understood the consequences when using more powerful and manipulating magic.
