    Brothers In Arms

    The Good

I have no idea what is going on in this book, and that is perfectly okay. The way the plot goes is so intriguing. This issue, more than the last presents the story in a really interesting way. We get more back ground on Cornelius, the little boy from issue one. We learn more of his family dynamic, which isn't the happiest of places. The kid is really intrigued by holograms which leads me to believe he may be the Navigator. But nothing has been revealed yet. The great piece of story here is Cornelius and his brother, they have a really solid relationship despite everything that is going on at home. That really helps the tone of the book be established. I really feel for Cornelius.

In terms of the superhero aspect of this book, we go back in the past to where Navigator and Horse meet for the first time. Really interesting interactions. There is definitely some Batman/Joker feeling there, which is great. I am excited to learn more about their relationship. The scenes that take place in this part of the book are really cool. The Navigator is a great character and I really like his costume. There is great dialogue and at the end there is some great philosophical narration.

The artwork is amazing. There is some really cool line work being done. The colours are what really make this book. In the scenes with Cornelius the colours are browns and are dull, but with the Navigator there are bright tones of blues and greens and pinks that really make those scenes stand out from the rest of the book.

    The Bad

Things are still unraveling and because this is only a six issue story that worries me that we will have a few issues that will be just info dumps. So far the pacing is great but I am concerned about future issues.

There was one scene where Cornelius looked really absurd.

His mother is a tool. I'm hoping the end of the book means what I hope it means.

    The Verdict

Translucid presents a really interesting take on the relationship between heroes and villains. This issue is a great number 2 because we learn more about Cornelius and his family as well as The Navigator and Horse. The art is solid, the colours are amazing and really enhance the story. I am beginning to piece together the elements but I cannot say anything for certain. This title is worth reading, and I will keep doing so.
