Tony Harris

Tony Harris is a comic book creator

American comic book artist

Harris got his start in the comics at the age of 20, with BLADE #1 from Buccaneer Publications. From there, he moved on to Innovation’s NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET in 1989. After working on some random projects, he teamed up with James Robinson in 1994 and DC’s STARMAN series was born. Eventually, the SAND AND STARS story arc of STARMAN garnered an Eisner Award for Harris and Robinson.

Harris penciled STARMAN for four and a half years. When he left to pursue other projects, he remained as cover artist for another year and a half. During this time, he was, at first, one of the members of Atlanta's Gaijin Studios. After a few of years, he set up his own studio, JOLLY ROGER, in Macon, Georgia. His studio mates include Tom Feister and JD Mettler.

Another highly successful collaboration for Tony occurred in 2004, when he combined his talents with Brian K. Vaughn on the Wildstorm title, EX MACHINA. In 2005, the comic won the Eisner Award for Tony, Brian and Tom Feister for Best New Series.

Harris’ artwork can also be seen on books as diverse as CONAN, DOCTOR STRANGE, INCREDIBLE HULK, PLANETARY, REANIMATOR, FAUST, LAZARUS 5 and OBERGEIST (that Tony also wrote).

Recently, he penciled the Marvel mini-series, SPIDERMAN: WITH GREAT POWER, written by David Lapham. And War Heroes, the Image project he began (but has not completed) with Mark Millar last year, is now being made into a motion picture.
