The Worst Titans Story Ever -- Bar None!

There have been some pretty disgraceful Titans stories over the years. The Titans series just previous to this one wasn't very good either, although it had its moments of fun and interest. But Graduation Day occupies a special place in the hearts of more or less every fan of Young Justice and the Titans series as, quite deservedly, the worst story ever written including the Titans and Young Justice.

Winick, as usual, is employed not for his writing talent (of which he has none) but because Didio imagines that by employing someone who once knew a gay man, he is somehow blameless in his flagrantly offensive hackery. This is an especially glaring example, with a character written out unconvincingly because...why? Who knows. It's likely Didio just didn't like her. Tellingly, the only characters to be seriously injured in this mini-series of misery are female. Even more tellingly, the 'writer' apparently forgot that the first one was the foremost teleporter amongst the Titans. So why didn't she just teleport? Or why didn't one of the numerous speedsters in presence fly to assist? Why didn't one of the Super-people around help? There are so many obvious problems with just this one sequence alone that it's clear there was no real editing done on this.

Dialogue is stilted and stiff, circumstances are even more contrived than usual, and whatever one's feelings about Young Justice, they deserved much better than Didio's ridiculous attempt to fold them into the 'Teen Titans' name, which incidentally was only a possibility thanks to the animated series Didio openly hated so much...despite it being the only remotely good Titans title in existence for years.

The visuals of this series are all competent, but wasted on such an abysmal story. If this tale could be rated zero stars, that's what it would get: it deserves the title of 'worst of the Titans'...and that is saying something, after some of the stinkers Marv Wolfman hoisted on us. Avoid Graduation Day at all costs. My obligatory referential pun here is: you FAIL, Graduation Day. No diploma for you!
