In original Legion continuity, Ayla and Timber Wolf (Brin Londo) met very early in their Legion careers and fell in love. Though they were a longtime Legion couple, their relationship was sometimes a stormy one and they eventually broke up after Ayla regained her lightning powers. The breakup was traumatic for both of them, leading Ayla to become romantically involved with her close friend Shrinking Violet (Salu Digby) as a result.
