Comic Catch Up: Thunderbolts #s 144-147

BUY THIS BOOK PEOPLE!
Even if you disagree with Cage in charge, IT'S A GREAT BOOK!!!

#2 Posted by Cafeterialoca (1501 posts) - - Show Bio

Also, G-Man, COME ON!
You left out the part where Troll saves Songbird yet mention Luke Cage vs. Purple Man?
You have to be BLIND to not realize that Troll and Songbird will be an important plot point down the line!

The Crush shirt tells me you guys shot this during the Live show. Good video nonetheless.

I actually just read Thunderbolts 147 about five minutes ago.
This is probably my favorite Marvel series right now.  I just like how eclectic the team is and how haphazard the story has been handled so far.  I like the unpredictable and chaotic style.

great book I have all of these

This is one of those books I love, but I don't read. =S

I missed the first three issues of this. I started reading at #147. I really like this book and would like to find the other back issues. When did US Agent get his arm ripped off by Nuke?

#8 Posted by Cafeterialoca (1501 posts) - - Show Bio
@longbowhunter:  During Siege.
Odin Spear.

I don't really care for this new team line up too much. Either did I like the last one during the Dark Reign. I like the original and the Initiative lineup best.

It's not a bad book. In fact, it's better than Secret Avengers for now.

Cage is Cage but the real nifty use of Walker as a warden of the raft was written very cool. Up until now, the lame US Agent costume, desperately needed to be retired along with Walker who reprised his role as faux Cap in a short Invaders retread.
My only beef with the book is the way it undermined Songbird as a character after Ellis and Bendis nurtured Songbird's bid to be the rightful heir...

@Cafeterialoca: It was about time. I know I'm pretty much spoiling everything but I don't want to spoil everything. It's clear that "Troll" is going to play a bigger part. The reason I went with talking about Purple Man is because of the BIG history between Purple Man and Jessica Jones in ALIAS. I felt that was way bigger than a character with a name I'm not crazy about. Sorry.

@Droopy31660: I wore a red MADMAN shirt during the Live Show.

For some reason Thunderbolts just don't interest me, but I will be getting #148 and #149 because they're Shadowland tie-ins.

When did Man-Thing join a team and how was he able to function in it?

#14 Posted by ImperiousRix (1069 posts) - - Show Bio
@Dr. Detfink:
Wow, and I thought I was one of the few who kinda dropped Secret Avengers in favor of continuing this book.  I completely agree it's better.
I also like the changes to US Agent, especially in this last issue when he actually demonstrates he's still got his strength and fighting abilities.
I wish Songbird was in the series a bit more, true, but I'll wait to see if she gets a bigger part in later stories of the series.

Wohooo, there going at Shadowland!

#16 Posted by Cafeterialoca (1501 posts) - - Show Bio
@G-Man: All I'm saying, since the Avengers vs. Thunderbolts issue mentions that it takes place during the trail of Troll, it probably would have been nice to give the heads up if Songbird starts defending Troll during the trail.

Don't let the new haircut fool you.  She's still very much the same Songbird.
And seeing how she could be a mentor figure soon, I'm not worried.

@the referee: Hank Pym brought Man-Thing over to the Raft as the Thunderbolts' new form of transportation (he teleports them where they need to go). He did escape in the last issue during the power outage and Luke asked Juggernaut to find him. He's on the cover for the next issue so obviously he'll be back.

@G-Man:  Yo G-Man, I see you're wearing an Orange Crush shirt.  Have you tried the new Lime Crush?  It's really good.

John Walker should become the new Iron Patriot. Awesome video by the way.

#21 Posted by Grimoire (504 posts) - - Show Bio

Never wanted to read Thunderbolts since they are mostly made up of bad guys.

#22 Posted by TheOnlyRealSage (6 posts) - - Show Bio

So this is actually good?
I didn't really think it was but I wanted to read it for Juggernaut.

No the whole Iron Patriot thing was an abomination acceptable only during dark reign

Great catch up and I love the Thunderbolts even though I haven't been keeping up with it for a year or so.

I have absolutely been loving this series.  Love the new lineup most.  Never thought I'd actually be rooting for Crossbones, but sure enough I was at the end of 146 when he was packing a minigun.

The art took a little while to warm up to, and I HATE Songbird's new haircut (she looks like a lesbian biker chick), but other than that, it's great.

I just want this X-Force story to continue.

#29 Posted by Vendel (337 posts) - - Show Bio

I still can't get over Proffessor X of all peopel giving Cain the endorsement. After having declared Cain to be beyond redemption the last time they met. Good one Parker. Oh and he has been taken out by random creature bodily fluids, a tree and nanites. But according to Parker.

Parker: "There’s always those Juggheads on some forum demanding he be the most powerful character EVAR. Which of course makes him unusable for almost every book. And takes like that kill everything interesting about a character."

So I ask. After these issues has the Juggernaut been interesting yet? A third rate brick whose only purpose on the team seems to be name recognition?

#30 Posted by Grimoire (504 posts) - - Show Bio
@Cafeterialoca:

Did some reading up on her and even though she use to be a bad guy she's a good character now. It still seems that the team is usually 90% bad guys though. lol
#31 Posted by Metatron_Da_Don (1037 posts) - - Show Bio

Baron Zemo = Nazi role playing smh

#32 Posted by Metatron_Da_Don (1037 posts) - - Show Bio

this roster is good, did anybody catch that part about Juggernaut hating caves? lol

#33 Posted by Quntumking (216 posts) - - Show Bio

Any team with Juggernaut should be good.Man-thing is interesting although it look's like they are treating him like a prisoner. U S Agent seem's like a good fit for warden.Cage is a very busy man. Overall i like this new THUNDERBOLT'S team.( Juggernaut hooked up with She-Hulk so he will alway's be supercool even as a villain in my book.)

Where's a picture of She-Hulk screaming "I DID NOT SLEEP WITH JUGGERNAUT!" when I need one....

Cool. Nice Comic Catch Up, G-Man! Dont think Thunderbolts has been this good since Ellis was on it.
I might have to get this on trade.
